These prayers are for single women who want to bring their unmarried season, its longings, questions and quiet loneliness, honestly before God. Pray the main prayer when you wake up uncertain, when a friend announces an engagement, or when the evening feels long. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words in place of ours.

Prayers for Single Women

Lord, you see me in this season, and you know the questions I carry. Some mornings I am thankful for the freedom to serve, travel, and build my life around what you have given me. Other mornings I feel the ache of an empty chair at the table, or the sting of another wedding invitation. Meet me in both. Keep me from measuring my worth by my relationship status, and remind me that I am already known and loved by you.

Father, help me to trust your timing even when I cannot see the path ahead. Guard my heart from comparison, from bitterness toward those who seem to have what I want, and from the quiet fear that I have been overlooked. Give me wisdom in the friendships and dating decisions I face, and courage to be honest about what I need. Fill my days with meaningful work, faithful friends, and service that matters. Let my life be full of you, whatever the future holds.

Thank you that my identity rests in your love and not in a label. Make me a woman of prayer, generosity and joy, and let my singleness be a place where your faithfulness is seen. I give you my hopes, my plans and my loneliness today. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired of waiting and tempted to compare my story with others. Help me rest in your love today. Show me one good thing to do with this day, and one person to encourage. Keep my heart open to you and content in your timing. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 27:4

One thing I have asked of the LORD, that I will seek after: that I may dwell in the LORD’s house all the days of my life, to see the LORD’s beauty, and to inquire in his temple.

Pray this when your longing feels loud. Ask God to make him your deepest desire, so that a season of waiting becomes a season of seeking his presence.

Psalm 139:14

I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

(WEB)

Pray this when you feel overlooked. Thank God that you were made with care and that your worth was settled long before anyone else noticed you.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray this when worry about the future starts to crowd your thoughts. Bring each specific fear to God and ask for the peace that guards your heart and mind.

1 Corinthians 7:34

There is also a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband.

(WEB)

Pray this when you feel pressure to define your life by marriage. Ask God to help you devote yourself fully to him in whatever season you are in.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

(WEB)

Pray this when the next chapter feels unclear. Ask God to help you trust that his plans for you are good, even when you cannot yet see how they will unfold.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many single women find it helpful to pray in the early morning, before the day’s messages and obligations arrive. Sit with a cup of tea near a window, read the main prayer slowly, and pause after each paragraph to name one specific worry or hope. If you have a journal, write down what God brings to mind during the pause.

You might also pray this prayer with a trusted friend, a mentor, or a small group. Ask someone to pray the shorter version for you on a hard day, and offer to do the same for them. Speaking your loneliness aloud to another believer often lightens it, and their prayers can remind you that you are part of a larger family of faith.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who knows you by name walk beside her in every season. May he fill her days with purpose, her friendships with warmth, and her heart with a deep and steady peace. May she rest in his love, and may she know that she is never alone.
