This daily prayer for faith is for the mornings when you want to trust God but your heart feels tired, distracted or unsure. Pray it first thing, before the phone and the to-do list take over, or at any point when doubt starts to crowd out hope. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.

Daily Prayer for Faith

Lord, I come to you this morning with a mind that is already busy and a heart that is not sure it can hold on. Some days I believe you are near and good, and other days I only feel the weight of what is in front of me. Today I ask you to strengthen the trust I have, even if it is small, like a seed that is still underground. Help me to remember what you have already done, and to notice the ways you are working right now, even in things I did not plan.

Father, I bring you the specific worries I carry: the conversation I dread, the decision I cannot see past, the people I love who are struggling, and the questions I have been afraid to say out loud. Teach me to give each one to you instead of rehearsing it all day. When I feel like I am standing alone, remind me that you have not left my side. Quiet the voice that says I have to figure everything out by myself. Let my faith grow steady enough to walk through this day one step at a time, trusting that you will meet me in each moment. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I believe, so help my unbelief. I do not have the strength I need right now, but I can give you this moment and this worry. Steady my heart, remind me that you are near, and help me take the next faithful step. Thank you that you hear even the prayers I cannot put into words. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

Use this verse to slow your breathing before you speak. Pause, let the words settle, and then ask God to help you rest in who he is rather than in your own plans for the day.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel pulled toward figuring everything out alone. Name the one area where you are leaning on your own understanding, and ask God to make your paths straight.

Hebrews 11:1

Now faith is assurance of things hoped for, proof of things not seen.

(WEB)

Read this verse slowly and ask God to show you what hope and unseen reality look like in your own life. Thank him for the things you are trusting him to finish, even before you can see them.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

Let this verse become a prayer for courage. Repeat it back to God in your own words, naming the fear you are facing and asking him to hold you steady as you face it.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

(WEB)

Pray this verse as you look at your calendar for the day. Ask God to help you take only today’s trouble into today, and to trust him with what is still unknown.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a regular time, such as while your coffee is brewing or on the drive before you start work. Sit or stand somewhere quiet, and hold something in your hands, like a cup, a Bible or a smooth stone, so your body has something to do while your mind settles. Read the prayer slowly, pausing after each sentence to let it sink in. If your mind wanders, gently return to the words without judging yourself.

If you pray with someone else, such as a spouse, a friend or a small group, take turns reading a paragraph each. Invite them to add their own worries at the end. Praying together can remind you that faith is not only a private effort, and that others are trusting God alongside you.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who is faithful settle your heart today and give you peace where there is worry. May he strengthen your trust one step at a time, and remind you that you are never walking this road alone. Go in grace, and let your faith grow quietly in the everyday moments ahead.
