This list gives you King James Version verses about heaven, arranged by the moments when hope is most needed: grief, fear of death, daily weariness, and the long wait for God’s promises to be complete. It is written for Christians who want a steady word about the life to come and a way to carry that word into ordinary days. Taken together, these passages describe heaven as a real place prepared by Christ, a home without sorrow, and a life in God’s presence that will never end.

Verses for Grieving a Loved One

Loss makes heaven feel both very near and very far. The verses in this section speak to people who have said goodbye to someone who trusted Christ, and they point to the reunion and comfort that Scripture promises.

John 14:2-3

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so , I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

(KJV)

Jesus spoke these words to disciples who were frightened about losing him. Read them slowly on the day you visit a grave or sit alone with an old photograph. Then write one sentence naming the person you miss and the place Jesus says he is preparing.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

13 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

(KJV)

Paul wrote to believers who were grieving without hope. He did not forbid sorrow, but he set it in the context of Christ’s resurrection. When sadness comes in a wave, say the name of Jesus aloud and remember that grief and hope can live in the same heart.

Revelation 21:4

And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

(KJV)

This verse describes a day when every tear is wiped away and death itself is gone. It is a good verse to read before bed on a hard anniversary. Consider keeping a small notebook where you record one thing you are looking forward to in the new creation.

Verses for Facing Fear and Uncertainty About Death

Many believers feel a quiet fear when they think about dying or about the unknown beyond it. These passages do not dismiss that fear. They place it beside the promise that God walks with his people through the valley and into his house.

Psalm 23:4

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

(KJV)

David speaks of walking through the valley of the shadow of death, not of staying there. When your mind races at night, picture a shepherd walking ahead of you on a dark path. Repeat the psalm slowly until your breathing settles.

Philippians 1:21-23

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. 22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not. 23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better…

(KJV)

Paul admits that he feels pulled in two directions, between continuing his work and departing to be with Christ. His honesty gives permission to hold mixed feelings. Consider writing down what you would most want to say to God if your time were short, and offer that prayer to him today.

2 Corinthians 5:1

For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

(KJV)

Paul calls the body a tent that will one day be taken down and replaced by a building from God. The image makes mortality feel less like an ending and more like a change of dwelling. When you look in the mirror this week, thank God for the body you have and trust him with the one to come.

Verses for Ordinary Days When Heaven Feels Distant

Most of life is not spent at funerals or in crisis. It is spent at work, in traffic, and in long days of routine. These verses help keep the hope of heaven in view during those unremarkable hours.

Colossians 3:1-2

1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

(KJV)

Paul tells believers to set their minds on things above, where Christ is seated. This is a habit more than a mood. Each morning, before you check your phone, take one minute to name something in your life that you are entrusting to Christ.

Hebrews 11:13-16

13 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and were persuaded of them , and embraced them , and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. 14 For they that say such things declare plainly that they seek a country. 15 And truly, if they had been mindful of that country from whence they came out, they might have had opportunity to have returned. 16 But now they desire a better country , that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

(KJV)

The writer describes the faithful of old as strangers and pilgrims on the earth, longing for a better country. That longing is not a rejection of life but a way of living with open hands. Notice one place today where you feel out of place, and let it remind you that this world is not your final home.

Matthew 6:19-21

19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21 For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

(KJV)

Jesus contrasts treasures that rust and decay with treasures stored in heaven. He ties the heart to where the treasure lies. Review your calendar for the week and ask whether your time reflects what you say you value most.

Romans 8:18

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

(KJV)

Paul sets present suffering against the glory that will be revealed. He does not pretend the pain is small, but he insists the future is larger. When a frustrating day drags on, speak this verse aloud and name one small grace you received before dinner.

Verses for Hope in the Presence of God

The center of heaven is not a place but a Person. These passages describe the joy of seeing God face to face and living in his presence forever.

Revelation 22:3-5

3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

(KJV)

John describes a city where the servants of God see his face and need no lamp, for the Lord gives light. Imagine what it would mean to serve God without weariness. Write down one act of service you are doing now and ask him to make it a joy.

1 Corinthians 13:12

For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

(KJV)

Paul says that now we see through a glass darkly, but then we shall know fully. Many questions you carry will be answered in that day. Choose one question you have brought to God for a long time and entrust it to him as something he will explain in heaven.

Psalm 16:11

Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

(KJV)

David says that in God’s presence is fullness of joy and at his right hand are pleasures forevermore. This verse ties joy to nearness to God. Before you sleep tonight, spend a few quiet minutes simply thanking God for being with you.

Revelation 21:23

And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

(KJV)

John notes that the city has no need of sun or moon, because the glory of God lights it and the Lamb is its lamp. The image is of a place where God himself is the source of all light. Look at a lamp in your home this evening and let it prompt a prayer for God’s light in a dark situation.

How to Use These Verses

Write the verses you return to most on index cards or in the notes app on your phone, so they are with you when you need them. Place one card where you will see it during a routine task, such as at the kitchen sink or on the dashboard. Reading the same verse for a week often reveals more than reading ten new ones once.

Pray the verses back to God rather than only reading them. Turn a promise like Revelation 21:4 into a request, asking him to comfort someone you love or to ease your own fear. Keep the prayers short and honest, and return to them when your feelings change.

A Short Prayer for Heaven

Lord, you have told us that you are preparing a place for us and that you will come again to receive us to yourself. When we grieve those who have gone before us, comfort us with that promise. When we fear the valley of death, walk with us and make your rod and staff our confidence. When ordinary days crowd out our longing for you, turn our hearts toward the things above. Help us to live now as those who belong to a better country, and bring us at last into the joy of your presence. Amen.
