This is a prayer for my husband’s work, written for the times when you want to bring his job, his colleagues, his decisions and his worries before God. You can pray it in the morning as he leaves the house, in the evening when he comes home tired, or whenever his work is weighing on your heart. Read it aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words.
Prayer for My Husband’s Work
Father, you know the details of my husband’s working day better than I do. You know the emails waiting for him, the meetings that run long, the deadlines that keep him up at night and the people he works beside, some easy to get along with and some very hard. I bring all of it to you now. Give him clear thinking when he has to make a decision, and give him patience when he is pressed or misunderstood. Protect his body and his energy so that he does not burn out, and help him remember that his worth is not measured by his output alone.
Lord, I ask you to go before him into every place he works. Open the doors that should be open and close the ones that should stay shut. Where there is conflict with a coworker or a boss, soften hearts on all sides, and show my husband the words to speak with humility and truth. Where he is anxious about money, provision or the future of his job, quiet that fear and remind him that you are faithful. Let his work be done with integrity, even when no one notices, and let people see something of your kindness in the way he treats them.
Above all, make my husband a man who works as though he is serving you and not only his employer. Let his labor bring good to the people around him and honor to your name. Give him rest when the day is done, and give us both peace at home. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, my husband is at work right now, and I am placing his day in your hands. Be with him in his meetings, his tasks and his conversations. Give him wisdom, calm and good judgment, and guard him from pressure that is not yours to carry. Let him do his work well and come home to us at peace. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many couples find it helpful to pray for work at a regular, predictable time. You might keep a short prayer on a note on the kitchen counter, or say it together in the car before he walks into the office. Holding something in your hands while you pray, such as his coffee mug, the car keys or a photo of the two of you, can help your mind stay focused and turn the prayer into a small act of love.
Consider inviting a friend, a small group or your church to pray for his work with you. Ask them to pray specifically for his colleagues, his leaders and any decisions he is facing this season. When you tell him you are praying, he will know he is not carrying his job alone, and that gives both of you more room to breathe.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go with your husband wherever his work takes him this week. May he be steady in his tasks, kind to the people he serves, and free from fear about tomorrow. May the Lord make his labor fruitful and bring him home each evening with a settled heart.
