This morning prayer is for the start of a new week, when the calendar is full and the day ahead feels heavier than it should. You can pray it aloud as written, first thing after you wake or while the coffee brews, or use it as a starting point and put your own names and worries in the blanks. It takes about two minutes.

Morning Prayers for a New Week

Lord, I am waking up to a week I have not yet lived. Before the alarms, the emails and the first hard conversation, I want to give You the hours ahead. You already know the meeting I am dreading, the deadline that keeps me up at night, and the person at work or at home who needs something from me that I may not have to give. Go before me into each of them. Give me clear thinking when I am tired and patience when I am short on it.

Father, I also bring You the people I love this week. Be near the ones who are sick, the ones who are grieving, and the ones who are carrying something no one else can see. Where I have promised too much, show me what to set down. Where I have neglected what matters most, remind me gently and give me the courage to change course. Let my first words today be kind and my first choices be wise.

Thank You that this week is a gift and not a test I must pass alone. You were faithful yesterday and You will be faithful today and every day after it. Steady my hands, guard my heart, and let me walk through Monday, Tuesday and the days beyond with the quiet confidence of someone who belongs to You. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, it is the start of a new week and I feel the weight of it already. Go ahead of me into the day. Help me do what is in front of me, and leave the rest in Your hands. Keep my words gentle with the people I meet, and give me rest when the work is done. Thank You for holding this week. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying this before you check your phone or look at the day’s schedule, ideally while you are still sitting on the edge of the bed or at the kitchen table with your first cup of coffee. Keep a pen nearby if you like, and write down one or two specific things you are handing to God, such as a difficult conversation on Wednesday or a child’s exam on Thursday. Returning to that note later in the week can remind you that the prayer is still in play.

If you share a home or a family, consider praying this together over breakfast or in the car on the way to school or work. Someone else can read it aloud while you listen, or you can take turns adding a name or concern. Many people find that praying for one another at the start of the week makes the rest of it feel less lonely.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before you into every hour of this new week. May He give you wisdom for what is required, grace for what is hard, and peace that does not depend on how the days unfold. May you feel His nearness in the quiet moments and His strength when the work presses in.
