This page gives you Bible verses for the moments when you feel rejected, whether by a friend, a family member, a team, or a community that has turned away. These verses share one truth: your worth is not decided by the people who reject you, because God has already claimed you as his own. Read them slowly, and let each one speak to the particular ache you are carrying today.

Verses for the Morning After Being Left Out

Some rejection arrives quietly, in a text left unanswered or an invitation that never came. These verses speak to the early hours after that sting, when the mind replays what was said or not said and asks what is wrong with you.

Psalm 27:10

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.

(WEB)

David names a painful possibility: that even his parents might abandon him. Yet he points to God as the one who gathers him in. Before you check your phone or head out the door, pause and tell God where the hurt is, and ask him to be your first and steadiest companion for the day.

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

(WEB)

This verse does not promise that the sting will vanish, but it says God draws near to people whose hearts are bruised. When the wound feels fresh, say the words out loud in your car or at the kitchen sink, and notice that you are not alone in the room.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

God speaks to a people who felt forgotten, telling them not to fear because he is with them. When someone’s silence feels like a verdict, write this verse on a sticky note and place it where you will see it at lunch, reminding you that God’s presence is steady even when people are not.

Verses for When Someone Chooses Not to Include You

Being passed over by people you care about can make you question your value. The verses in this section address the sense of being set aside, and the assurance that God chooses people who are overlooked by others.

Psalm 118:22

The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.

(WEB)

The stone that the builders discarded became the cornerstone. When you have been treated as worthless by a group, this image reminds you that human judgment is not the final word on what is useful or precious. Hold onto that picture when a conversation makes you feel like an outsider.

1 Peter 2:4

Coming to him, a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God, precious.

(WEB)

Peter writes to believers who were despised by their neighbors, calling Jesus the living stone rejected by people but chosen and precious to God. If you feel unwanted by others, say the phrase “chosen and precious” to yourself as a reminder of how God sees you, and let it shape how you respond to the next slight.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(WEB)

Paul lists the powers that might seem able to separate us from God and concludes that none of them can. When a relationship ends or a community closes its door, read this passage aloud and name one thing from that list you fear, then remember that it cannot cut you off from God’s love.

Verses for Rebuilding Your Sense of Worth

After rejection, it is easy to start believing the story that you are too much, not enough, or somehow broken. These verses help you return to what God says about who you are.

Psalm 139:14

I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

(WEB)

The psalmist praises God for making him with care and wonder. When criticism has left you doubting your design, try naming one specific way you are made well, such as your patience with a child or your skill with a tool, and thank God for it by name.

Ephesians 2:10

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them.

(WEB)

Paul says we are God’s workmanship, created for good works prepared in advance. If rejection has convinced you that your life has no purpose, this verse reframes your story as one still being written by God. Look for one small way to serve someone today, and see it as evidence of the purpose he has given you.

Zephaniah 3:17

The LORD, your God, is among you, a mighty one who will save. He will rejoice over you with joy. He will calm you in his love. He will rejoice over you with singing.

(WEB)

This verse pictures God rejoicing over his people with singing, quiet in his love. When you feel unwanted, imagine God’s delight in you as an active, present reality rather than a distant idea. Let that picture soften the harsh voices you have heard from others.

Verses for Facing People Who Have Turned Away

Sometimes the rejection comes from people you still need to see, such as family members, coworkers, or old friends. These verses help you stay steady, forgive where you can, and keep your heart open to God’s guidance.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

(WEB)

David, betrayed by a close friend, is told to cast his burden on the Lord. When you must face someone who has hurt you, bring that burden to God in a short prayer before the encounter, and leave the outcome in his hands rather than carrying it yourself.

Romans 12:18

If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men.

(WEB)

Paul writes that we should live at peace with everyone as far as it depends on us. This does not require you to pretend the hurt never happened. It asks you to do your honest part, speaking with kindness and setting boundaries where needed, and then releasing the rest.

Colossians 3:13

Bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any; even as Christ forgave you, so you also do.

(WEB)

Paul asks believers to bear with one another and forgive as the Lord forgave them. Forgiveness is not the same as trust or reconciliation, but it loosens rejection’s grip. Consider one name you need to release, and speak a simple prayer of release over that person this week.

How to Use These Verses

Write the verses that speak most directly to your situation on a card, in a journal, or in the notes app on your phone. Keep them where you will see them during the moments rejection stings most, such as before school pickup, after a group chat goes quiet, or before you walk into a room where you feel unwelcome. Reading them in those moments turns the words into something you carry rather than something you only remember.

Try praying one verse back to God each day for a week, slowly and in your own words. Begin by naming the hurt, then speak the verse as a truth you are choosing to trust, and finish by asking God for one practical step toward healing. Over time you may notice that the verses begin to shape how you talk to yourself, not only how you feel.

A Short Prayer for when you feel rejected

Lord, you know the ache of being turned away by people who were supposed to love me. You see the moments I replay in my mind and the questions I keep asking about my worth. Thank you that you are not like the people who have let me down. Help me hear your voice saying that I am chosen, loved, and held. Where I am tempted to believe the lies of rejection, remind me of who you say I am. Give me the courage to face what is ahead and the grace to release what I cannot control. Amen.
