This list gathers Bible verses about Jesus’ teachings for anyone who wants to know what he actually asked of his followers and how to put those words into daily life. Each group below turns one part of his teaching into something you can read in the morning, carry through a hard day, or come back to when you are unsure what faithfulness looks like.

What these verses share is a plain thread: Jesus spoke about love, forgiveness, prayer, and trust in the Father in ways ordinary people could understand and act on. They are short enough to memorize and deep enough to keep returning to.

Verses on Loving Others as Jesus Taught

Jesus did not treat love as a feeling you wait for. He gave it as a command and a pattern, and these verses show how central it was to everything he said about how his people should live together.

John 13:34-35

34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

(WEB)

Jesus gave this as a new command on the night before his death, and it names love as the mark that others will use to recognize his followers. Try writing one name on a card this week and doing one small, specific kindness for that person without announcing it.

Matthew 22:37-39

37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 A second likewise is this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’

(WEB)

When asked which command mattered most, Jesus combined love for God with love for neighbor. Notice the person who irritates you most today and ask God to show you one honest way to treat them with respect.

Luke 6:31

“As you would like people to do to you, do exactly so to them.

(WEB)

This is often called the golden rule, and it asks you to imagine yourself in another person’s shoes before you speak or act. Before your next difficult email or conversation, pause and ask how you would want to be addressed in that moment.

Mark 12:30-31

30 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. 31 The second is like this, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

(WEB)

Mark records the same summary of the law that Jesus gave, linking the whole heart and whole mind to loving God and loving the neighbor as yourself. Choose one routine task today, such as making dinner or answering messages, and do it as an act of love for God and for the people it helps.

Verses on Forgiveness from Jesus’ Lips

Forgiveness was one of the most demanding parts of Jesus’ teaching, and he returned to it often. These verses speak to the hurts that are hardest to release and to the grace that makes releasing them possible.

Matthew 6:14-15

14 “For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you don’t forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

(WEB)

Jesus links the forgiveness we receive from God with the forgiveness we extend to others, which makes this a serious teaching. When you feel resentment rising, name the specific person and ask God to help you release the debt, even if you are not yet ready to feel warmth toward them.

Matthew 18:21-22

21 Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Until seven times?” 22 Jesus said to him, “I don’t tell you until seven times, but, until seventy times seven.

(WEB)

When Peter asked how many times he should forgive, Jesus answered with a number that means without limit. Think of one old offense you have been counting, and decide to stop keeping score on it today.

Luke 23:34

Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” Dividing his garments among them, they cast lots.

(WEB)

From the cross, Jesus prayed for those who were executing him, showing forgiveness at its most costly. Pray this prayer for someone who has wronged you, asking God to meet them with the mercy they have not earned.

Verses on Prayer Taught by Jesus

Jesus did not only pray; he taught his disciples how and why to pray. These verses describe a prayer that is simple, honest, persistent, and rooted in trust that the Father listens.

Matthew 6:9-13

9 Pray like this: ‘Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. 10 Let your Kingdom come. Let your will be done, as in heaven, so on earth. 11 Give us today our daily bread. 12 Forgive us our debts, as we also forgive our debtors. 13 Bring us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. For yours is the Kingdom, the power, and the glory forever. Amen.’

(WEB)

This is the prayer Jesus gave when his disciples asked him to teach them to pray. Use it as a pattern this week by praying one line at a time and pausing to think about what each phrase means for your own needs.

Matthew 7:7-8

7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

(WEB)

Jesus encouraged his listeners to ask, seek, and knock, trusting that the Father gives good things to those who ask. Choose one request you have stopped bringing to God and bring it again today, in plain words.

Matthew 6:6

But you, when you pray, enter into your inner room, and having shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.

(WEB)

Jesus pointed toward a quiet, private place where prayer is between you and the Father. Set aside a few minutes this week in a room where you will not be interrupted and speak to God without performing for anyone.

Verses on Trust and Anxiety in Jesus’ Teaching

Many of Jesus’ listeners worried about food, clothing, and the future, just as people do now. These verses invite you to set those worries down in the hands of a Father who knows what you need.

Matthew 6:33-34

33 But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

(WEB)

Jesus told his listeners to put God’s kingdom first and to let each day carry its own trouble. Write down the one worry that is crowding your thinking, and set it aside until tomorrow.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

(WEB)

Jesus described his yoke as easy and his burden as light, which speaks directly to people who are weary. When you sit down tonight, take a slow breath and tell God one thing that has made you tired.

John 14:27

Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, give I to you. Don’t let your heart be troubled, neither let it be fearful.

(WEB)

Jesus promised a peace that is different from the world’s peace, and he gave it to his friends before the hardest hours they would face. Say this verse aloud during a moment of stress and notice what changes in your body.

How to Use These Verses

Begin with one group rather than trying to absorb all fifteen at once. Copy a single verse onto an index card or a note on your phone, and place it where you will see it at the start of the day, such as near the coffee maker or on your bathroom mirror.

Read the verse slowly, then read the reflection, then pause and pray a sentence or two back to God in your own words. Over a few weeks, return to the verses that stirred you most, and let Jesus’ teaching shape the ordinary decisions of your home, work, and friendships.

A Short Prayer for Jesus’ Teachings

Lord Jesus, you spoke with such clarity about love, forgiveness, prayer, and trust, and you lived every word you taught. Help me to hear your voice in these passages and to take them seriously in my ordinary days. Show me where I have resisted your command to love, and give me the courage to ask for forgiveness and to extend it. Teach me to pray honestly, to trust the Father with my worries, and to put his kingdom first. Let your words take root in me so that others might see your love in how I live. Amen.
