This morning prayer is for asking God to make your heart willing before the day begins, so that when work, family, or a difficult conversation comes, you are ready to say yes to what He asks. Pray it first thing, while the house is quiet and before your plans take over. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add the names and tasks of your own day.
Morning Prayer for a Willing Heart
Lord, I wake up this morning with a full list in my head: the emails waiting for me, the meeting at nine, the call I keep putting off, the dishes, the lunch I still need to pack, and the people I will see before evening. Some of it I want to do, and some of it I would rather avoid. Give me a willing heart for all of it. Soften the part of me that wants to choose my own comfort first, and help me hear what You want from me today, even when it is small or inconvenient.
Father, meet me in the ordinary moments. When my coworker is short with me, let me answer with patience rather than defensiveness. When my child asks for the fifth time, let me give my attention and not my irritation. When I feel tired or unseen, remind me that I am serving You, not only the people in front of me. Take away my resentment about tasks I think are beneath me, and give me joy in being faithful where I am placed.
I do not want to live this day guarded or grudging. Open my hands to what You put in them, and open my ears to the person who needs me to listen. Keep my heart tender toward You from the first hour to the last. Go before me into every room I enter today, and let my willingness show in how I work, speak, and rest. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am ready to be willing today. Make my heart soft to You and to the people I meet. Where I want to hold back, give me courage to step forward. Where I am tired, give me strength that is not my own. Help me say yes to what You ask and trust You with what I cannot control. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try to pray this prayer before you check your phone, while your coffee is still hot and the house is quiet. Sit in a chair near a window if you can, and keep your Bible or a notebook close by. If your hands are restless, hold a pen and write one task or person from the day on a card, and place it where you will see it at lunch. That small act can help the prayer stay with you past breakfast.
You can also pray this together with a spouse, a roommate, or a friend who wakes up early. Read the main prayer aloud, take turns with the verses, and close by naming one thing each of you will try to do willingly that day. Checking in during the afternoon, even by text, can remind you both that the morning prayer is still at work in the middle of an ordinary day.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord make your heart willing and steady today. May He go before you into every task and every conversation, and may His peace settle on you when the day feels long. May you see Him at work in the small things, and may you rest in His faithfulness when evening comes.
