This morning prayer is for the future: for the weeks and years ahead that feel uncertain, and for the plans, decisions and people you cannot yet see clearly. Pray it first thing, while the house is quiet and before the day’s noise takes over. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where they fit your situation.
Morning Prayer for the Future
Lord, I am waking up to another day, and I already feel the future pressing in. I think about the job I may or may not keep, the bills that need to be paid next month, and the children who are growing up faster than I can keep up with. I don’t know what the next year will hold, and some mornings that not-knowing feels heavy. Help me to set those worries down before I pick up my phone or my coffee.
Father, I ask you to go ahead of me into the days and seasons still to come. Where I am tempted to plan every detail and control every outcome, teach me to trust your timing and your provision. Give me wisdom for the decisions I face, honesty with the people I love, and courage to take the next faithful step even when the path past it is hidden. Keep my heart soft toward the people I will meet today, and let my hands be useful in the work you have set in front of me. Whatever the future brings, let me meet it as someone who already belongs to you. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, the future feels unclear this morning, and I am a little afraid of what I cannot see. Go before me into this day and into the weeks ahead. Give me enough wisdom for the next decision, enough peace for the next conversation, and enough trust to leave the rest in your hands. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer in the first ten minutes after you wake, before you check messages or start the day’s list. Sit in a chair near a window if you can, with a cup of something warm in your hands, so that your body settles while your heart turns toward God. If you have a notebook nearby, you might jot down one specific worry about the future and place it in front of the Lord as you pray.
You might also pray this with a spouse, a friend or a roommate over breakfast, taking turns reading a line each. Families can pray it together before school or work, changing the names and details to fit each person’s real concerns. Keep the prayer short enough that you can return to it during the day when fear rises again.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into every day that is still ahead, and may he be your steady ground when the future feels unclear. May his peace guard your heart and his wisdom guide your next step. Walk into this day knowing you are held.
