These short prayers for Easter morning are written for the first moments of the day, when you wake up knowing that Christ is risen and want to greet Him before the rest of the day begins. Pray them early, before the phone, before the breakfast dishes, before the first call of the morning. You can read them aloud exactly as written, or use them as a starting point and speak in your own words once you find your footing.

Short Prayers for Easter Morning

Lord Jesus, I wake up on the morning of Your resurrection, and before I think about anything else, I want to say thank You. You were dead, and You are alive, and that means the grave did not get the last word over You or over me. Be with me as I step into this day. I have people to see, dishes to wash, a message I have been dreading, and a list longer than my patience. Help me hold all of it in the light of an empty tomb.

Father, some of the people I will meet today are carrying heavy things they have not told anyone. My coworker may be tired from a hard week. My child may wake up anxious about a test. My neighbor may be grieving a loss that Easter only makes sharper. Give me eyes to notice them and words that carry Your life rather than my own impatience. Let me be a small sign of the hope we celebrate this morning. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Risen Lord, I belong to You this morning, and You are already at work in the hours ahead. Go before me into every conversation and every task. Keep me gentle when I am tired and honest when I am tempted to pretend. Let the joy of Easter steady my hands and soften my voice. I trust You with the day, one hour at a time. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Luke 24:6

He isn’t here, but is risen. Remember what he told you when he was still in Galilee…

(WEB)

Pray this verse as you remember that the women who came to the tomb were looking for the living among the dead. Ask the Lord to correct your own wrong expectations about where life is found, and to help you look for Him in the ordinary places of today.

Romans 6:4

We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

(WEB)

Read this as a prayer for your walk today. Ask God to help you live in the new life Christ gives, choosing small faithful actions in your work, your home and your conversations rather than falling back into the patterns that once held you.

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(WEB)

Thank God for the victory that is already won through Jesus. Name the struggle you expect to face today, whether it is a difficult boss, a worried heart or a recurring habit, and give thanks that it does not have the final word over you.

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

(WEB)

Let this verse set the tone for your morning. Speak it slowly, and then ask God to show you one specific good thing in the day ahead, so that your gladness is rooted in Him and not only in the calendar.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Pray these words for the morning you are facing. Thank God that His mercies start fresh each day, and ask Him to help you receive that new mercy today, especially in the places where yesterday’s failures still weigh on you.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying the longer prayer before you pick up your phone, sitting on the edge of the bed or at the kitchen table with a cup of coffee in your hands. Holding something warm helps many people stay present. If you have a few quiet minutes, read the verses aloud, pause after each one, and let the words settle before you move on to the next.

If you live with others, consider praying the shorter version together at breakfast or as family members head out the door. A spouse, a roommate or a friend can take turns reading a line each. Keep it brief, and let silence do its work between the words.

A Blessing to Close

May the risen Christ go before you into this day and walk beside you through every hour. May His peace guard your heart when the morning gets loud, and may His joy be the strength you carry into every room. Go in the confidence that the One who rose from the grave is faithful to His people.
