This page offers daily prayers for brothers, whether you are praying for a brother who lives down the hall or one who lives across the country, one you are close to or one you hardly speak with anymore. Pray it in the morning before the day gets loud, or in the evening when you are finally still. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words about the particular brother on your heart.

Daily Prayers for Brothers

Lord, I bring my brother before you today. You know his days better than I do: the work that drains him, the worries he does not always name, the old hurts between us that still sometimes flare up when we talk. Be near him in all of it. Give him steady strength when his energy runs low and wisdom when he has to make a decision with no clear answer. Guard his health and his sleep, and let him feel your presence even in the ordinary hours of the morning commute or the quiet of his kitchen.

Father, I also ask you to work in our relationship. Where I have been impatient, quick to judge, or slow to call, soften my heart and show me what to do. Where he has been distant or hurt me, help me extend grace without pretending the hurt did not happen. Teach us both to listen more than we speak and to remember that we share the same parents, the same memories, and a deeper family in you. If there is distance between us, bridge it in your time and in your way, and give me the courage to take the first step when you lead me to it.

Above all, draw my brother closer to you. Let him know he is loved, not because of what he has achieved but because he is your child. Speak to him in the places where he is searching, and bring people across his path who will point him toward Christ. Keep him from the lies that tell him he is alone or not enough. Protect him from harm, seen and unseen, and let your peace guard his heart and mind today. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my brother is on my mind right now. Be with him in whatever he is facing today. Give him strength, clear thinking, and a sense of your nearness. Heal what is broken between us, and make me patient, kind, and ready to show him love. Draw him toward you and keep him safe in your care. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Numbers 6:24-26

24 ‘The LORD bless you, and keep you. 25 The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26 The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’

(WEB)

Pray this blessing over your brother by name each morning. It asks the Lord to keep him, to shine his face toward him, and to give him peace, which makes it a natural way to begin the day on his behalf.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

(WEB)

Ask God to make your bond with your brother the kind of loyalty this verse describes. Pray that in hard seasons you will stay close to him, and that he will know he can count on you.

Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

9 Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. 10 For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up.

(WEB)

Thank God for the advantage of having a companion through life’s difficulties. Ask him to help you and your brother lift each other up when one of you stumbles or grows weary.

Romans 12:10

In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another…

(WEB)

Pray that you and your brother would honor one another above yourselves. Ask the Holy Spirit to produce real affection and humility in both of your hearts, especially when old patterns of rivalry try to return.

Philippians 1:3-4

3 I thank my God whenever I remember you, 4 always in every request of mine on behalf of you all, making my requests with joy…

(WEB)

Let this passage shape your gratitude for your brother. Thank God for the good he has brought into your life, and pray for him with the same joy Paul expressed for the believers he loved.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helps to pray for a brother at a set time, such as while the coffee brews in the morning or during a short walk before bed. Keep a note on your phone with his name and the specific things you want to remember, such as an upcoming appointment, a job interview, or a hard conversation he is dreading. Praying with a list keeps you from drifting into vague requests and reminds you to follow up with him afterward.

If you are married or have children, invite them to pray with you at the table or during bedtime, so the whole household carries your brother before God together. You might also ask his spouse, a close friend, or another family member to join you in this prayer, and let them know how to pray for him too. When you see him, tell him you have been praying, and let that quiet faithfulness become part of your relationship.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless your brother and keep him in every season of his life. May the Lord make his face shine upon him and be gracious to him, and may he rest in the peace that only God can give. May his brothers and sisters in Christ stand with him, and may he always know he is seen, loved, and held.
