This page gives women a set of Bible verses to read first thing in the morning, before the phone, the inbox, and the list of needs take over. The verses are grouped by the kinds of mornings many women know well: the quiet hour alone, the rush before the house wakes, and the morning weighed down by worry. Each one is paired with a short reflection and a simple way to carry it into the day. Most of these passages share a common thread: they remind the reader that God meets her at the start of each day with mercy, strength, and a steady presence.

Verses for the Quiet Hour Before Anyone Wakes

Before the house stirs, there is often a short window of stillness. These verses suit that moment, when the mind is still clear and the heart can turn toward God before the day’s demands arrive.

Psalm 5:3

The LORD, in the morning you shall hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.

(WEB)

David speaks of bringing his requests to God early in the morning and then waiting expectantly. For a woman with a few quiet minutes, try naming one specific thing you are bringing to God today, then leave a moment of silence before you get up.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Written in grief, these lines declare that God’s mercies are new every morning. Whatever yesterday held, write the word “new” at the top of a page in your journal and let it set the tone for the hours ahead.

Psalm 143:8

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

(WEB)

The psalmist asks God to let him hear of His love in the morning, because he trusts Him. Ask God to show you His love in one ordinary task today, such as a conversation or a kind word from someone you meet.

Psalm 90:14

Satisfy us in the morning with your loving kindness, that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

(WEB)

This prayer asks God to satisfy His people with His steadfast love in the morning so they may rejoice all their days. Before you check your phone, say the request aloud and notice how it changes the first minutes of your day.

Verses for the Busy Morning With Children and Family

For many women, the morning is a whirlwind of breakfasts, lunches, and getting everyone out the door. These verses speak to the work of love done in the middle of that noise, and to the God who sees each small act of care.

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Paul encourages believers to work at whatever they do as serving the Lord and not only people. When you pack a lunch or tie a shoe, offer the task to God as worship, even if no one notices.

Proverbs 31:25

Strength and dignity are her clothing. She laughs at the time to come.

(WEB)

The woman described in this passage is clothed in strength and dignity, and she laughs at the future. Before the chaos starts, stand in front of the mirror and remind yourself that your strength comes from God, not from having the morning under control.

Isaiah 40:11

He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.

(WEB)

The Lord is described as a shepherd who gathers the lambs in His arms and gently leads those that are nursing. When a child is fussing or a schedule is slipping, picture yourself held in that same tender care and let your own voice soften.

Romans 12:12

Rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer…

(WEB)

Paul urges believers to rejoice in hope, be patient in affliction, and be constant in prayer. Choose one of those three commands for the morning ahead, such as pausing for a short prayer while the kettle heats.

Verses for the Morning Weighed Down by Worry

Some mornings begin with a knot in the stomach: a diagnosis, a money problem, a strained relationship. These verses address anxious hearts and point to where rest can be found.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul tells believers not to be anxious but to bring every request to God with thanksgiving. Write down the one worry that is loudest this morning, then write beside it one thing you thank God for.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

(WEB)

Jesus says each day has enough trouble of its own and that tomorrow can take care of itself. When your mind races ahead, return to the question, “What does today require of me?” and answer only that.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

(WEB)

The psalmist is told to cast his burden on the Lord, who will sustain him. Imagine literally setting down a heavy bag at the foot of the bed, and leave it there as you walk into the kitchen.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

(WEB)

Peter invites believers to cast all their anxiety on God because He cares for them. Speak one specific worry out loud as a prayer, and then say the word “cared” once to close it.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

(WEB)

Those whose minds are steadfast are kept in perfect peace because they trust in God. As you start the day, pick a single phrase such as “God is with me” and return to it whenever your thoughts drift.

How to Use These Verses

Many women find it helpful to keep a small card or notebook near the bed or the coffee maker with one verse written on it. Reading it aloud before you do anything else gives the mind a clear starting point and reduces the pull of the phone. Choose a single verse for the week rather than trying to read all fifteen at once, and let it become familiar.

Pray the verses as well as read them. Turn a line such as “Lord, let me hear of Your love in the morning” into your own words, and speak it while you wait for the house to wake. Returning to the same verse across several mornings often reveals what God is doing in your life more clearly than reading many new ones.

A Short Prayer for Women

Lord, I come to You before the day has had its say. You have seen the night I just came through, and You have already gone ahead into the hours I cannot yet see. Give me a quiet heart this morning, and help me set down the worries I was never meant to carry alone. Let Your mercies be new to me, the way Scripture promises. Where I am tired, be my strength. Where I am rushed, slow my steps. Keep me near You through every task, and let my ordinary work become a small offering back to You. Amen.
