This daily prayer for a new month is for the moment when a calendar page turns and you feel the weight of what lies ahead, whether that is work, family, money, health or simply the unknown. Pray it on the first morning of the month, or any morning you want to begin again with God. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own needs into your own words.
Daily Prayer for a New Month
Father, thank You for bringing me to the start of another month. I did not make this day, and I did not earn the time You have given me. Yet here I am, with a planner full of appointments, a list of bills, a few worries I have carried since last month, and a few hopes I have not yet dared to name out loud. Quiet my mind and help me see the month as a gift and not only a load to carry.
Show me what matters most in the weeks ahead. Help me make room for the people I love, especially those who are tired, sick, grieving or far away. Give me patience with the children and the coworkers who test me, and give me the wisdom to say yes to what You are asking and no to what is merely loud. Where I have failed you or others in the past month, forgive me, and teach me to walk more honestly this time. Guard my money, my time and my heart from the small compromises that add up quickly.
Whatever comes in the next thirty days, I want to meet it with you. Go before me into each appointment, each hard conversation and each long night. Keep me faithful in what is small so I am ready for what is large. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, this is a new month and I am starting it with you. Be with me in the first hour and in the last. Settle what is anxious in me, order what feels scattered, and help me do the next faithful thing. Let my words and choices this month reflect your kindness. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer on the first morning of the month, before checking messages or the news. Sit somewhere quiet with a cup of coffee or tea, and keep a pen nearby. As you pray, write down the two or three concerns that stand out most. You can return to that short list at the end of the month to see how God has answered.
If you live with others, consider praying it together at the breakfast table or during a family meeting about the month’s schedule. You might also ask a friend or small group to pray the prayer with you over a phone call or message thread, and to check in with you halfway through the month.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into every week of this new month. May he steady your steps, open the right doors, and close the ones that would lead you away from his peace. May you know his nearness in the ordinary hours, and may you rest in the faithfulness that began long before this calendar page turned.
