This list gives you Bible verses about God’s grace that you can read when you feel unworthy, worn out, or unsure whether God’s kindness still reaches you. It is written for ordinary Christians who want words they can return to on hard days. Each verse points to the same truth: God gives what we could never earn, and he gives it freely.

Verses for When You Feel You Have Fallen Short

Guilt has a way of convincing us that God’s patience has run out. The verses in this section speak to that feeling directly, reminding you that grace begins with God’s initiative and not with our performance.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast.

(WEB)

Paul tells the Ephesians that they were saved through grace, not by their own effort. When you catch yourself trying to earn God’s approval again, write these two verses on a card and read them before you start your list of things to fix.

Romans 5:8

But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

(WEB)

Christ died for us while we were still sinners, which means God’s love was not waiting for us to clean up first. Remember this when a past mistake comes back to mind, and answer it by naming the moment God chose you anyway.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Jeremiah writes these words in the middle of a ruined city, which is why they carry weight. Each morning you wake to a fresh supply of God’s mercy, so take a breath before checking your phone and thank him for today’s portion.

Verses for Mornings When You Need Strength

Some days grace shows up as strength to get through the next task. These passages describe God supplying what we lack, whether that is energy, courage, or patience with the people around us.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

When Paul asked God to remove a painful weakness, the answer he received was that grace was enough. If you are facing a limitation you cannot fix, pray this verse over it and ask God to show you where his strength is working through your weakness.

Isaiah 40:29-31

29 He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. 30 Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; 31 But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Isaiah describes God giving power to the faint and renewing those who wait on him. Before your busiest hour, pause and wait on the Lord for even a minute, then start the work from that renewed place rather than from exhaustion.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

(WEB)

Paul writes this from prison, having learned to be content in every circumstance through Christ’s strength. Use it to face one specific task today, naming the task aloud and trusting that God’s help is sufficient for it.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

The psalmist admits his flesh and heart may fail, yet God remains his strength and portion. When your own resources run dry, let this verse remind you that God is not a backup plan but your lasting source.

Verses for Quiet Moments of Reassurance

Grace is not only for crises. These verses are gentle and steady, suited to late evenings, long drives, or the minute before sleep when you need to hear that you are held.

Psalm 103:8-12

8 The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness. 9 He will not always accuse; neither will he stay angry forever. 10 He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor repaid us for our iniquities. 11 For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his loving kindness toward those who fear him. 12 As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.

(WEB)

David describes a God who is slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love, and who removes our transgressions as far as the east is from the west. Read this slowly at night and let the picture of distance settle your mind.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore draw near with boldness to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace for help in time of need.

(WEB)

The writer invites us to approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, not fear. Before a prayer you have been hesitant to start, remember that you are welcome in that place and speak to him plainly.

Micah 7:18-19

18 Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, and passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn’t retain his anger forever, because he delights in loving kindness. 19 He will again have compassion on us. He will tread our iniquities under foot; and you will cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.

(WEB)

Micah asks who is a God like the Lord, one who pardons iniquity and casts sins into the depths of the sea. When an old failure resurfaces, quietly say these words back to God and ask him to keep that sin where he has put it.

Psalm 86:5

For you, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive; abundant in loving kindness to all those who call on you.

(WEB)

David calls the Lord good, forgiving, and abounding in steadfast love to all who call on him. Use this verse as the opening line of your evening prayer, letting it set the tone before you bring your concerns.

Verses for Sharing Grace With Others

Grace received tends to overflow toward others. These passages show how God’s kindness to us shapes the way we treat the people who test our patience.

Colossians 4:6

Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.

(WEB)

Paul asks that our speech be always gracious and seasoned with salt. Before you answer a frustrating message, pause and ask whether your words would sound like God’s kindness to the one reading them.

Ephesians 4:32

And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

(WEB)

Paul urges believers to be kind and tenderhearted, forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave them. Think of one person who has wronged you and choose one small act of forgiveness toward them today.

1 Peter 4:10

As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms.

(WEB)

Peter reminds us that each person has received a gift and should use it to serve others as good stewards of God’s grace. Ask yourself what gift you have been given and where you could use it this week.

How to Use These Verses

Write two or three of these verses on index cards or in the notes app on your phone, and place them where you will see them, such as the bathroom mirror, the car dashboard, or the kitchen counter. Repetition helps grace move from something you know to something you live in.

Read one passage at the start of your day, then return to it when a specific need arises. You may find it helpful to speak the verse aloud in your own words, asking God to make it personal. Over time, certain verses will become familiar companions for particular seasons.

A Short Prayer for God’s Grace

Father, thank you that your grace is not earned by my effort or lost through my failures. You have met me in my weakness and have promised to be enough for what I face today. Help me receive your mercy without hiding from it, and let that kindness shape how I speak and act toward the people around me. When guilt returns, remind me of what you have already done in Christ. Amen.
