Revelation 5:13 describes a moment of universal worship, in which every created thing in heaven, on earth, under the earth, and on the sea joins in praise to God and to the Lamb. The verse answers the question of who receives final honor: both the one seated on the throne and the Lamb, Jesus Christ, share in the blessing, honor, glory, and dominion forever. The speaker is John, the author of Revelation, who records what he saw and heard in a vision of heaven.
I heard every created thing which is in heaven, on the earth, under the earth, on the sea, and everything in them, saying, “To him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb be the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion, forever and ever! Amen!”

What Revelation 5:13 Means
The phrase “every created thing” is deliberately wide. John lists heaven, earth, the realm under the earth, the sea, and everything in them, which covers the whole created order. No part of creation is left out of the chorus. The verse presents worship as the natural response of all things to the one who made them and redeemed them.
The words “the blessing, the honor, the glory, and the dominion” are a fourfold ascription, a traditional way of giving full praise in Scripture. Each word names a different aspect of who God is: his goodness, his worth, his splendor, and his rule. The phrase “forever and ever” stresses that this praise does not end. The “Amen” at the close is a word of agreement, meaning something like “so be it.”
The verse describes what heaven is doing, not a promise that you will be given a particular experience. It does not predict the exact circumstances of any believer’s life, nor does it offer a timetable. What it does affirm is that the sovereignty and worthiness of God and the Lamb are the settled center of all reality, and that everything ultimately bows to them.
The Context of Revelation 5:13
Revelation was written by John, traditionally identified as the apostle, while he was exiled on the island of Patmos. He addressed seven churches in the province of Asia, churches facing pressure, persecution, and the temptation to compromise with the surrounding culture. The book is apocalyptic prophecy, full of visions and symbols meant to reveal the true reality behind the troubles of the present age.
Just before verse 13, the Lamb, who was slain, is declared worthy to open the scroll, and heaven responds with a growing chorus of praise. Verse 12 celebrates the Lamb for receiving power, wealth, wisdom, strength, honor, glory, and blessing. Verse 13 widens the circle until all creation joins in. Verse 14 closes the scene with the living creatures saying “Amen” and the elders falling down in worship. Read in this setting, the verse is the climax of a crescendo, and it tells suffering churches that the Lamb who was slain now shares the throne and receives worship from the whole universe.
Key Phrases in Revelation 5:13
Psalm 148:1-5
1 Praise Yah! Praise the LORD from the heavens! Praise him in the heights! 2 Praise him, all his angels! Praise him, all his army! 3 Praise him, sun and moon! Praise him, all you shining stars! 4 Praise him, you heavens of heavens, You waters that are above the heavens. 5 Let them praise the LORD’s name, For he commanded, and they were created.

This psalm calls the heavens, the angels, the sun and moon, and every created thing to praise the Lord. It shows the same vision of all creation joining in worship that Revelation 5:13 describes, grounding that vision in the older songs of Israel.
Philippians 2:9-11
9 Therefore God also highly exalted him, and gave to him the name which is above every name; 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, those on earth, and those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Paul writes that God exalted Jesus so that every knee should bow and every tongue confess him as Lord. This passage parallels the universal acknowledgment in Revelation 5:13, showing that honor given to Christ is the fulfillment of God’s purpose for the whole creation.
A Short Prayer From Revelation 5:13
Lord God, you sit on the throne and you are worthy of all blessing, honor, glory, and dominion. Thank you that the Lamb who was slain now shares that throne and receives the worship of heaven and earth. When my world feels loud or uncertain, remind me that every created thing is held in your hands. Teach me to give you praise freely each day, and let my small voice join the great chorus that will never end. Amen.
