Acts 4:12 teaches that salvation is found in no one but Jesus, and that no other name under heaven has been given to people as a means by which they must be saved. Peter spoke these words to the rulers, elders and scribes of Jerusalem after he and John had been arrested for healing a crippled man at the temple gate. He was speaking boldly to the same council that had condemned Jesus.
There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”

What Acts 4:12 Means
The phrase “there is salvation in none other” is direct. The word “salvation” refers to being rescued, made whole and brought into God’s saving purpose. Peter is saying that this rescue does not come through any other source, whether a priest, a ritual, a teacher or a moral system. The claim is exclusive: Jesus is not one good option among many.
The second half of the verse explains why. “Any other name under heaven” points to a choice that is open to everyone, and Peter says there is no other name given to people for this purpose. The word “must” signals that salvation is not optional. The verse does not describe every detail of how God judges each person, and it does not promise that people will understand the full mechanics of salvation. It states the central fact that rescue comes through Jesus alone.
The Context of Acts 4:12
Luke wrote the book of Acts as a second volume to his Gospel, addressing a believer named Theophilus. Its early chapters record the spread of the gospel from Jerusalem outward. Peter’s words come just after he has explained that the healed man stood before the council “in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth,” the same Jesus the council had handed over to be crucified and whom God raised from the dead.
Just before the verse, Peter quotes Psalm 118 to describe Jesus as the stone the builders rejected that became the cornerstone. Verse 13 then shows the council noticing that Peter and John were unschooled men who had been with Jesus. Read in this setting, Acts 4:12 is not a general statement about religion. It is a courtroom-style witness that Jesus, the one they rejected, is the only one through whom salvation comes.
Key Phrases in Acts 4:12
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.

In this verse Jesus says He is the way, the truth and the life, and that no one comes to the Father except through Him. It shows that Peter’s claim in Acts 4:12 comes directly from the words of Jesus Himself.
Romans 10:9
That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

Paul explains that confessing Jesus as Lord and believing that God raised Him from the dead leads to salvation. This passage shows how the exclusive claim of Acts 4:12 is received personally, through faith in the risen Christ.
A Short Prayer From Acts 4:12
Lord Jesus, thank You that salvation is found in You alone and not in my own efforts or achievements. Help me to rest in the truth that You are the name by which I am made whole. Give me courage, like Peter and John, to speak of You honestly and kindly to those around me. Keep my heart humble and my trust fixed on You every day. Amen.
