This page gives you King James Version Bible verses about tribulation, arranged by the kind of hard season you may be walking through. It is for anyone who has been pressed by trouble, grief, pressure or fear and wants Scripture that speaks directly to that experience. The verses here share one thread: Jesus never promised an easy road, but he did promise to be present, to overcome the world, and to give peace in the middle of it.

Verses for Trouble You Did Not Choose

Some tribulation arrives without warning: a diagnosis, a layoff, a phone call late at night. The verses in this group speak to the moment when you did not plan for hardship and do not know how long it will last. They remind you that the Lord sees the trouble before you do.

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

(KJV)

Jesus says this to his disciples just before his arrest, so he is not speaking from a comfortable distance. Name one specific trouble you are facing today, then tell the Lord you are bringing it to him rather than carrying it alone through the afternoon.

Psalm 34:19

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

(KJV)

David wrote this after many hard escapes, and he does not claim the righteous are spared from affliction. Instead he says the Lord is near and delivers. Keep a short note on your phone with this verse, and read it when a new problem lands on your day.

Isaiah 43:2

When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

(KJV)

The image here is of water and fire, two things that threaten to overwhelm. Isaiah speaks to a people in exile, so the promise is grounded in real suffering. When a situation feels like it will swallow you, picture yourself walking through it with God beside you rather than standing at the edge waiting to drown.

Verses for Pressure That Will Not Let Up

Tribulation is not always one dramatic event. Sometimes it is a long grind of demands, exhaustion and small losses that stack up over months. The passages in this section address that steady weight and the strength God gives for the next step rather than the whole mountain.

2 Corinthians 4:8-9

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…

(KJV)

Paul lists a run of pressures and then the things that do not finally break him. Notice that the verbs describe being pressed without being crushed. At your next hard task, name one pressure out loud and then one thing that has not yet been taken from you.

Romans 5:3-4

3 And not only so , but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4 And patience, experience; and experience, hope…

(KJV)

Paul connects tribulation with a process that produces hope rather than simply wearing you down. This does not mean you should enjoy suffering. It means God is not wasting it. Write the four steps in the passage on an index card and keep it in your wallet for the difficult weeks.

Isaiah 40:29-31

29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

(KJV)

This passage speaks to people who have run out of strength, which is exactly what sustained pressure does. The promise is renewed strength for those who wait on the Lord, not endless energy of your own. Before you start a draining week, pray the phrase “renew my strength” over your calendar.

Verses for Fear and Uncertainty

Tribulation often brings fear about what comes next: money, health, relationships, the future of people you love. The verses here answer that fear with the character of God rather than with assurances that nothing bad will happen.

Psalm 46:1-2

1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea…

(KJV)

The psalmist describes an upheaval so severe that the earth itself seems to shift, and still he names God as refuge. Think of a specific place where you feel unsafe, and say the first verse there while you are in it, so the words are attached to a real location.

Psalm 56:3

What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

(KJV)

David admits he is afraid, which is important. The verse does not shame fear but shows what to do with it: turn it toward trust. When fear rises at night, speak this verse slowly, then name the one thing you are afraid of and place it in God’s hands.

Matthew 6:34

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

(KJV)

Jesus is not telling you to stop planning. He is saying that tomorrow’s trouble, added to today’s, becomes too heavy to carry. Decide what the one task is for today, do that, and leave tomorrow’s worries in the Lord’s hands until the morning arrives.

Verses for Enduring With Hope

The last group looks past the hard season to the faithfulness of God. These verses do not rush you out of tribulation, but they give you a reason to keep going and a horizon to look toward.

Revelation 7:14

And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they which came out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

(KJV)

This verse speaks of those who have come through great tribulation and been made clean. It places your suffering inside a larger story that ends with God’s people made whole. When your present trouble feels endless, read this verse and remember the story does not end in the trial.

Romans 8:18

For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

(KJV)

Paul sets present suffering on one side of a scale and future glory on the other, and he is confident the glory outweighs the suffering. You do not need to feel that weight yet to hold the promise. Write the verse where you will see it during your daily commute.

James 1:12

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

(KJV)

James links enduring trial with the crown of life promised to those who love God. The word “blessed” here describes a settled good that comes through perseverance. Ask someone you trust to pray with you this week for steady endurance, not an instant escape.

How to Use These Verses

Write the verses that speak most directly to your situation on a card, a note on your phone, or the inside cover of your Bible. Keep them where you already look during the day, such as the bathroom mirror, the steering wheel visor, or your lock screen. Repetition helps them surface when you need them most.

Read them in the morning before the day’s pressure begins, and return to them in the evening when the day’s losses are fresh. You can also pray them back to God, changing “I” and “me” into your own words so the Scripture becomes your prayer. Let the verse set the tone, and then speak honestly about what you are facing.

A Short Prayer for tribulation

Lord, you know the specific trouble I am carrying today, and you know the fears I have not yet put into words. I ask you to be near me in it, as you promised, and to hold me steady when my strength runs low. Give me the wisdom to take the next faithful step rather than trying to see the whole road at once. Remind me that you have overcome the world, and let that truth shape how I speak, think and rest. Thank you for not leaving me alone in this season. Amen.
