This list gives you Bible verses for confirmations, arranged by theme so you can choose the ones that fit your moment, whether you are the one being confirmed, a parent, a sponsor, or a pastor preparing a word. It is meant for anyone who wants Scripture that speaks to commitment, identity and the Spirit’s work in a believer’s life.

The verses below share a common thread: they describe God’s faithfulness to those who belong to him, and they call the believer to a steady, daily response. Confirmation is a public step, but these passages point to a faith that is lived out long after the service ends.

Verses for Standing Firm in Your Faith

Confirmation often arrives with a sense that something has been settled, yet the Christian life is a continuing trust rather than a single decision. The passages in this group speak to steadiness, perseverance and the call to hold on to what you have professed.

Joshua 24:15

If it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose today whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell; but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

(WEB)

Joshua made his declaration before the whole nation, and that is what a confirmation makes visible. Write your own version of this sentence on a card and keep it in your Bible as a reminder of the choice you are affirming.

1 Corinthians 15:58

Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the Lord’s work, because you know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.

(WEB)

Paul’s word to the Corinthians connects steadiness with ordinary work. Choose one small, regular practice this month, such as a weekly service or a daily prayer, and treat it as the place where this verse becomes real.

Philippians 1:6

Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

(WEB)

Paul does not say the work is finished at conversion or at confirmation. Let this verse slow you down when you feel behind, and remind yourself that the one who began the good work is still at it.

Hebrews 10:23

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

(WEB)

The writer urges believers to hold fast to their confession without wavering. When you feel tempted to drift, speak the words of your confirmation vow aloud and ask a trusted friend to keep you accountable.

Verses for the Gift of the Holy Spirit

Many churches link confirmation with the work of the Holy Spirit, whether that is understood as sealing, empowering or guiding. These verses direct attention to the Spirit’s presence and the new life he gives.

Ephesians 1:13

In him you also, having heard the word of the truth, the Good News of your salvation—in whom, having also believed, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit…

(WEB)

Paul describes the Spirit as a seal of promise on believers. Think of a particular moment when you sensed God’s nearness, and thank him for it in a short prayer before you go to sleep tonight.

Acts 1:8

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.”

(WEB)

Jesus promised power for witness, not only comfort for the one receiving it. Identify one person in your life you could speak of Christ to this week, and let this verse shape how you pray for that conversation.

Romans 8:16

The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God…

(WEB)

The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we belong to God. On days when assurance feels thin, read this verse slowly and name the evidence of God’s care you can see already in your life.

Galatians 5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, 23 gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

(WEB)

Paul lists the fruit the Spirit produces in a believer’s character. Pick one quality from this list to focus on for a week, and notice where it grows in small, unremarkable moments.

Verses for a Life Shaped by Grace

A confirmation is a moment of looking back at what God has done and forward to how you will live. These passages root that future in grace rather than performance, which keeps the commitment humble and hopeful.

Ephesians 2:8-9

8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, that no one would boast.

(WEB)

Paul insists that salvation is a gift received by faith. When you feel pressure to earn God’s approval through your performance, return to this passage and let it lower your shoulders.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Written in the middle of grief, these words affirm that God’s mercies are renewed each morning. Begin one day this week by reading these verses before you check your phone, and let them set the tone.

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

(WEB)

Micah sums up what God requires with justice, mercy and humble walking. Ask yourself which of the three is hardest for you right now, and make one concrete choice in that direction this week.

Colossians 3:15

And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.

(WEB)

Paul asks that the peace of Christ rule in the heart. In a tense conversation or a crowded day, pause, breathe and ask God for that peace before you respond.

Psalm 119:105

Your word is a lamp to my feet, and a light for my path.

(WEB)

The psalmist calls God’s word a lamp for the feet. Keep one passage open on your phone or desk so that when decisions arrive, you already have a light to walk by.

How to Use These Verses

Write the verses that matter most to you on a card, in the front of your Bible, or in a journal, and place them where you will see them each morning. Many people find it helpful to read one verse a day for a week, then return to the list when a particular need comes up.

Read the verses aloud, slowly, and pray them back to God in your own words. If you are preparing a confirmation for a young person, read a passage together at the kitchen table or in the car, and ask what it means in their daily life at school and with friends.

A Short Prayer for Confirmations

Lord, thank you for calling me into your family and for the faithful people who have walked with me to this day. I am grateful that the work you began in me is yours to finish, and I ask you to help me hold fast to the promises I have made before you and your church. Fill me with your Spirit, so that my words and my ordinary choices reflect the grace I have received. Keep me steady when I am tired, humble when I am proud, and near to you every day. Amen.
