This list gives you Bible verses for the last day of school, whether you are a student closing out a year, a parent watching your child walk out of the building, or a teacher packing up a classroom. Each section groups verses by a moment you are likely to face that day: the anxious morning, the goodbye, and the summer ahead. What these verses share is a simple message that God is present in endings as much as beginnings and that he goes with you into what comes next.

Verses for the Morning Before the Final Day

Some people wake up on the last day feeling a strange mix of relief and dread. The verses in this group speak to the nerves of an exam you have not yet taken, a grade that still hangs in the balance, or a teacher you are not sure you will see again. They ask you to bring those feelings to God before the bus arrives.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

When the hallways are loud and your mind is racing, this verse invites you to stop for a moment. Before the first bell, take three slow breaths and name one thing you are trusting God with today. Let that pause be the start of your morning.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul writes this to a church facing real uncertainty, and his advice still fits a nervous student or parent. Write down the one worry that keeps coming back, then turn it into a short prayer. Reread the note at lunch if the worry returns.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

God speaks directly to Israel in a time of fear, promising his presence and strength. Repeat the promise under your breath as you walk into the building. It can steady you when you feel too small for the day ahead.

Verses for Saying Goodbye to Classmates and Teachers

The last day often brings a wave of goodbyes, some warm and some awkward. These verses speak to the ache of leaving people behind and to the hope that relationships built in a classroom can continue in God’s care beyond it.

Ecclesiastes 3:1

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven…

(WEB)

Solomon reminds us that life moves through seasons, and each one has its own purpose. Let this verse give you permission to feel sad about an ending without deciding it means nothing. Say one honest goodbye today, even if it is only a text or a handshake.

Romans 12:10

In love of the brothers be tenderly affectionate to one another; in honor preferring one another…

(WEB)

Paul asks believers to honor one another and to show real affection. Think of one classmate or teacher you have grown close to and tell them one specific thing you appreciated about them this year. Specific thanks is often the most lasting goodbye.

Proverbs 17:17

A friend loves at all times; and a brother is born for adversity.

(WEB)

This proverb describes the steady nature of true friendship across hard times. Consider who has stood with you this school year, through difficult days and ordinary ones. Ask God to help you keep those friendships going when summer pulls everyone apart.

Verses for Looking Ahead to Summer and What Comes Next

The final bell opens a stretch of unstructured time, and it can bring unexpected questions about the future, the next grade, or the person you are becoming. These verses point you toward God’s faithfulness in the unknown months ahead.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you,” says the LORD, “thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope and a future.

(WEB)

God speaks to exiles who could not see their future, promising that his plans are good. Use this verse to frame the summer as a season of growth rather than emptiness. Ask him what he might be preparing you for, and write down any thoughts that come.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Even in a book of grief, the writer finds a reason to hope in God’s faithfulness, renewed each morning. If the summer feels uncertain, let this verse remind you that his mercy is not used up by the end of a school year. Greet each new morning with a simple thank you.

Joshua 1:9

Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

(WEB)

Joshua is about to lead Israel into an unfamiliar land, and God’s command is to be strong and courageous. Carry this verse into your next season as a reminder that he goes before you. Pray it aloud before you start the first new routine of summer.

Psalm 121:8

The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

This psalm describes God as the one who watches over your coming and going. Whether you are heading to camp, a summer job, or simply home, let this promise cover each departure and return. Pray it for the people you will see less often over the break.

How to Use These Verses

Write two or three of these verses on an index card or in the notes app on your phone. Put it somewhere you will see it on the last day, such as your backpack, the car dashboard, or the classroom desk. Reading it at the start and end of the day helps the verses stay with you when the schedule gets busy.

Pray the verses instead of only reading them. Turn each one into a sentence addressed to God, asking him to help you live out what it says. Parents can read a verse aloud at breakfast, and teachers can share one with their students before the final dismissal.

A Short Prayer for the Last Day of School

Lord, thank you for the year that is ending and for the people you placed in our lives along the way. Some of us feel relieved, some feel sad, and many of us feel both at once. Be near to each student, parent, and teacher as they walk out of this building. Give us courage for what comes next and gratitude for what we learned here. Hold our friendships in your care, and guide our steps into the summer. Amen.
