This prayer is written for the morning of Easter Sunday, when the house is quiet or already busy and you want to greet the day with the news of the resurrection on your lips. Pray it when you first wake, over coffee, or while you dress for church or a family gathering. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where your heart leads.

Blessings for Easter Morning

Lord, thank you for this morning. The tomb is empty, and the stone that looked so final has been rolled away. Before I reach for my phone or the list of things waiting for me today, let me remember that you are alive, and that because you are alive, nothing I carry today is beyond your reach. Bless the people I will see this morning, the ones gathering at the table, the ones sitting in the pew beside me, and the ones who are far away and feel alone on a day that should be full of hope.

Be with the people I love who are struggling this Easter. Some of them are grieving someone who will not be at the table this year. Some are waiting on test results, carrying a marriage that feels fragile, or wondering whether they will ever feel joy again. Let them know that the resurrection reaches into the places that feel like graves. Give me patience with the children who are impatient for their baskets, with the relative whose comments sting, and with the long hours of cooking and cleaning. Help me to be present rather than rushed. Let my words today carry some of the hope I have been given. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Risen Lord, you are alive and you are with me this Easter morning. Bless my family and the people I will meet today. Give me peace where I am anxious, kindness where I am tired, and courage for whatever this day holds. Let the joy of your resurrection shape how I speak and how I listen. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 30:5

For his anger is but for a moment. His favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may stay for the night, but joy comes in the morning.

(WEB)

Pray this verse for the people in your life who are weeping this Easter, asking God to let the morning of his faithfulness break over their night of sorrow. Hold the words up as a promise you are trusting, even when the feeling has not yet caught up.

1 Corinthians 15:55-57

55 “Death, where is your sting? Hades, where is your victory?” 56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

(WEB)

Read this passage slowly and thank God for the victory it describes. Ask him to help you live today as someone who has already been given the final word over death, fear, and every form of loss.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Let these words shape your first thoughts of the day. Ask God to renew his mercy over your morning, so that whatever you failed at yesterday does not define what you bring to the table today.

Romans 6:4

We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.

(WEB)

Pray this verse for your own walk with Christ, asking that the new life he gave you at the empty tomb would show in ordinary choices. Ask him to help you live in that newness through the hours ahead.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Bring your weariness to God in the words of this verse. Ask him to renew your strength for the long day of hosting, traveling, or caring for others, so that you do not run out of energy before the evening comes.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying the longer version while your hands are busy with something simple, such as setting the table, making the coffee, or tying a child’s shoes. Let the physical task remind you that God is present in the ordinary things. If you can, pray it at the same moment each Easter, so the morning begins with the same reminder year after year.

You can also pray this prayer together with someone else. A spouse, a child old enough to join in, or a friend on the phone can take turns reading a paragraph each. Praying it aloud as a household can turn a rushed holiday morning into a shared moment of worship, and it gives everyone a chance to name one person they are asking God to bless.

A Blessing to Close

May the risen Lord go before you into this day and walk beside you through every hour of it. May he fill your home with peace, your conversations with grace, and your heart with the quiet confidence that the tomb is empty and love has won. Go in joy, and carry the light of Easter into every room you enter.
