This is a Christian prayer for my daughter, written so you can read it aloud as it stands or use it as a starting point for your own words. It works well at the start of the day, before a school exam, during a hard season in her life, or whenever a parent’s heart feels too full to find its own words. Take it slowly, and let the phrases that fit your situation rise to the surface.

Christian Prayer for My Daughter

Father, thank you for entrusting this girl to me, even for a little while. You know her by name, you knit her together in her mother’s body, and you know every hair on her head. I bring her to you today with all of her hopes and fears. Some days she is confident and bright, and some days she is anxious about friends, school, her body, or what the future holds. Be near her in each of those places. Give her a steady sense that she is loved and that she does not have to earn it.

Lord, guard her heart from the voices that tell her she is not enough. Teach her to know her own worth through who you say she is, not through how she looks, what she achieves, or how she is treated by others. When she is tempted to compare herself or to lose heart, remind her of your nearness. Give her wisdom in her friendships, courage to do what is right, and honesty to admit when she is wrong. Help her choose kind people and to be a kind person herself.

Father, I also ask that you help me as her parent. Give me patience when I am tired, gentleness when I am frustrated, and the humility to apologize when I get it wrong. Let her see your faithfulness in the way I love her, so that when she is grown she will recognize your love more easily. Whatever she walks through, may she never walk through it alone. In the name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my daughter is in your hands. Be with her today in every place she goes, at school, with her friends, and in the quiet moments when no one sees her struggle. Give her peace that makes no sense to the people around her, and remind her that she is yours. Keep her heart soft and her faith strong. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 139:13-14

13 For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

(WEB)

Pray this over your daughter when you need to be reminded of who made her. Thank God for the care he took in forming her, and ask him to help her see herself the way he sees her.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

(WEB)

Use this verse for the moments when she feels afraid or overwhelmed. Ask God to be the one who strengthens her and holds her steady when her own strength runs out.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray this for her worries about the future or about things beyond her control. Ask that she would bring each anxiety to God in prayer and receive a peace that guards her heart and mind.

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

(WEB)

Read this as a prayer of hope and commitment for her growth. Ask God to guide her steps in the right direction and to shape her character over the years ahead.

Romans 8:38-39

38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from God’s love, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

(WEB)

Pray this when you want her to know that nothing can separate her from God’s love. Ask that she would rest in that love through every season, including the difficult ones.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many parents find it helpful to pray for their daughter at a set time each day, such as in the car before school, while she sleeps, or during a quiet cup of coffee in the morning. Keep a printed copy of the prayer somewhere you will see it, perhaps in your Bible, on the fridge, or on your phone’s lock screen. Holding a small object that reminds you of her, like a bracelet or a photo, can also keep your attention on her as you pray.

Consider inviting her father, a grandparent, a close friend, or your church’s prayer team to pray this with you, especially for the seasons that feel heaviest. Some parents write the prayer out by hand once a week and add a line about something God has done in her life. Over time, your prayers become a record of how faithfully God has been working in her and in you.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her, and make his face shine upon her. May she grow in wisdom, kindness, and courage, and may she always know she is deeply loved by the God who made her and by the people who love her most.
