This list gives you Bible verses about new beginnings, grouped by the moments when a fresh start feels most needed: the first hours of a new day, a season that has closed, and the hard step of trusting God with what comes next. It is written for anyone who wants Scripture to meet a real situation rather than sit on a shelf. The verses share one thread: God makes new things, and He does not wait for us to be ready before He starts.

Verses for Waking Up to a Fresh Day

Some mornings a new start arrives quietly, with nothing more than a clock and a cup of coffee. These verses speak to the moment you open your eyes and wonder whether today can be different. They remind you that mercy is not used up overnight.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Lamentations was written by someone who had watched everything fall apart, yet he still found morning mercy. Before you check your phone, say one sentence aloud thanking God for a mercy that has not run out. Let that be the first thing you say today.

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

(WEB)

The psalmist does not say the day will be easy. He says it is the day the Lord has made, which is a claim about who owns the hours ahead. Pick one ordinary task on your list, such as a phone call or a load of laundry, and do it as a gift from God.

Isaiah 43:19

Behold, I will do a new thing. It springs out now. Don’t you know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.

(WEB)

God speaks this to a people who had reason to think their story was over, promising a path in the desert. When you feel stuck in a familiar routine, ask Him to show you one small thing He is already doing. Write it down before the day gets busy.

Verses for Leaving an Old Season Behind

Some beginnings only happen after an ending. A job, a relationship, a chapter of grief or failure may need to be set down before anything new can grow. These verses are for the person who is learning to let the past stay in the past.

2 Corinthians 5:17

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old things have passed away. Behold, all things have become new.

(WEB)

Paul uses this line to describe what happens to a person who belongs to Christ. The old pattern does not get a final vote. Tonight, name one old habit or regret you are handing over, then place it somewhere physical, such as a drawer or a box, as a reminder that it no longer defines you.

Philippians 3:13-14

13 Brothers, I don’t regard myself as yet having taken hold, but one thing I do. Forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to the things which are before, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul admits he has not arrived, yet he refuses to stay stuck looking backward. He presses on toward the goal God has set. Choose one forward step this week, even a small one like applying for a course or apologizing for a mistake, and take it without waiting for the past to feel fully settled.

Isaiah 65:17

“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth; and the former things will not be remembered, nor come into mind.

(WEB)

This verse looks ahead to a new creation, a promise that God is making all things new. It can steady you when the old season still feels loud. Read it slowly, then ask God to help you trust the future He is preparing, even when you cannot yet see its shape.

Verses for Stepping Into the Unknown

A new beginning often feels exciting from a distance and frightening up close. When you do not know how things will turn out, these verses point to the One who already knows the road. They are meant to steady your steps rather than remove every uncertainty.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Proverbs does not ask you to understand every turn before you take it. It asks you to trust and to acknowledge God in all your ways. Before a decision you are dreading, write down the choice you are facing and one way you will ask God for direction about it.

Joshua 1:9

Haven’t I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

(WEB)

God gives this command to Joshua just before he leads Israel into a land full of unknowns. The courage is rooted in God’s presence, not in Joshua’s confidence. When fear rises about a new role or place, repeat the phrase “the Lord your God is with you” as you walk into the room.

Revelation 21:5

He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” He said, “Write, for these words of God are faithful and true.”

(WEB)

This verse comes from the one seated on the throne, who declares that He is making everything new. It is a promise written for a people facing persecution and loss. Keep it where you will see it this week, perhaps on a sticky note at your workspace, as a reminder that the final word belongs to God.

How to Use These Verses

Start small. Choose two or three verses from this list that speak to where you are right now, and write them on a card, in the notes app on your phone, or in the front of a journal. Reading them at the same time each day, such as while the coffee brews or before bed, builds a habit that outlasts the first rush of motivation.

When you pray with these verses about new beginnings, turn each one into a short request. Read the verse aloud, pause, and then tell God what you need from it: courage for a hard conversation, patience with yourself, or willingness to let go. Revisit the same verse over several weeks, since Scripture often reveals more as your circumstances change.

A Short Prayer for New Beginnings

Lord, you are the one who makes all things new, and I come to you today with the parts of my life that feel worn out or unfinished. Thank you for mercies that begin again every morning. Help me set down what I need to release, and give me courage to take the next honest step, even if it is small. Where I feel afraid of what is ahead, remind me that you are already there. Shape this fresh start according to your goodness, and let my days reflect your faithfulness. Amen.
