If you have just come through a hard week, this list gives you Scripture to hold onto while you catch your breath, grieve what needed grieving, and face the next seven days. It is written for anyone who is tired, discouraged, or simply worn thin. The verses below share one thread: when the week has been heavy, God is not distant from it, and His steadiness does not depend on how our week went.

Verses for the Night Your Week Finally Ends

When the last email is sent and the house goes quiet, the mind often keeps replaying what went wrong. These verses speak to that exhausted evening, when you need permission to stop striving and simply rest in what God has already done.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

Tonight you do not have to solve anything. Put your phone face down, sit somewhere comfortable, and say the first line of this verse out loud. Let the stillness be an act of trust rather than another task to complete.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks to people who are worn out from carrying too much. Name one specific thing that has been weighing on you this week, then deliberately hand it over to Him before you turn off the light.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

The psalmist can lie down and sleep because his safety rests in the Lord. Before bed, tell God one worry you are leaving with Him, and let that be the last thing you think about.

Verses for Facing Monday Again

A hard week can leave you dreading the next one before it has even started. These verses steady your heart for the start of a fresh week, so you can walk into it with courage rather than dread.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

This passage was written by someone whose world had collapsed, yet he found fresh mercy every morning. Each day, read these lines before checking your messages, and let the morning begin with gratitude for new mercy rather than dread about yesterday.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Waiting on the Lord does not mean doing nothing; it means relying on His strength instead of your own. Choose one task for Monday morning and begin it in prayer, asking God to supply what your energy lacks.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul invites believers to bring every anxious thought to God in prayer and thanksgiving. Write down the two or three worries most likely to follow you into the new week, and pray over each one by name.

Verses for When Your Strength Is Gone

Some weeks leave you physically drained, emotionally raw, or spiritually dry. These verses remind you that God’s power does not depend on your reserves, and that weakness is not a failure to hide from Him.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

Paul learned that God’s grace is enough even when his own resources ran out. Admit to God, honestly and without polish, where you feel weakest right now, and ask Him to show His sufficiency in that exact place.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

The psalmer admits his heart and body are failing, then anchors himself in God as his strength. When you feel empty, repeat this verse slowly, letting its honesty give you permission to be depleted while still held.

Romans 8:26

In the same way, the Spirit also helps our weaknesses, for we don’t know how to pray as we ought. But the Spirit himself makes intercession for us with groanings which can’t be uttered.

(WEB)

When you cannot find words to pray, the Spirit intercedes for you. If your prayers this week have been only sighs, offer those sighs to God knowing He understands them completely.

Verses for Remembering God Is Still Faithful

After a difficult stretch, it is easy to forget the times God has carried you before. These verses call you back to His past and present faithfulness, giving you grounds to hope in what He will do next.

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for the LORD your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you.”

(WEB)

Moses spoke these words to Israel as they faced a daunting future. Think of one specific way God helped you through a past hard season, and thank Him for that memory as evidence that He has not changed.

Psalm 34:18

The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit.

(WEB)

The Lord draws near to those whose hearts are broken and crushed. If this week has left you hurting, speak your pain to Him plainly, trusting that His closeness is a comfort rather than a rebuke.

Romans 8:28

We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, to those who are called according to his purpose.

(WEB)

This verse does not say every hard thing is good, but that God works through all things for the good of those who love Him. Write down one thing from this week you cannot yet see the purpose of, and ask God to reveal it in His time.

Hebrews 13:5

Be free from the love of money, content with such things as you have, for he has said, “I will in no way leave you, neither will I in any way forsake you.”

(WEB)

God’s promise never to leave or forsake you stands regardless of how the week went. Put this verse somewhere you will see it tomorrow morning, a reminder that His presence came with you through every hour of the week.

How to Use These Verses

Write two or three of these verses on an index card or a note on your phone, and keep it where you will see it first thing in the morning or last thing at night. Reading the same verse several days in a row often reveals more than reading ten new ones once. Choose one verse each evening to carry into the next day.

Pray the verse back to God rather than simply reading it. Turn the wording into a sentence addressed to Him, such as “Lord, You are my refuge; I run to You today.” This moves Scripture from information into conversation, and it is especially helpful on days when your thoughts feel scattered.

A Short Prayer for after a difficult week

Lord, this week has been hard, and I bring You the tiredness, the disappointment, and the things I could not fix. Thank You that You see every part of it and that You are not surprised by any of it. Help me rest in Your nearness tonight, and give me the grace to face the coming days one step at a time. Remind me, when my strength runs low, that Your faithfulness does not run out. Hold my heart steady, and let Your peace guard what I cannot protect on my own. Amen.
