This morning prayer is for asking God to guide your business, your decisions and the people you will meet before the workday begins. Pray it first thing, while the coffee is still hot and before the emails start arriving. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own names and needs into the open spaces.

Morning Prayer for My Business

Lord, I come to you before the phone rings and before the first customer walks in. This business is something I have built with hard work and many hours, but I know that it belongs to you and that every good thing in it comes from your hand. Today I give you the plans on my desk, the invoices that need paying, the payroll due on Friday and the worries about cash flow that keep me awake. Help me to see clearly what needs my attention and what I need to leave in your care.

Give me wisdom for the decisions I will face today, whether they concern pricing, hiring, a difficult supplier or a client who is unhappy. Make me honest in what I promise and fair in how I treat everyone I work with, from my team to the delivery driver to the person who buys from us for the first time. Protect my employees and their families, and give them joy in their work. Where I am tempted to cut corners or chase gain at the cost of integrity, turn my heart back toward what is right. Thank you for the work of my hands, and for the people you have placed around me to help carry it. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, you know what this business needs today. Give me clear thinking for each decision, patience with the people I work with, and honesty in every word I speak to customers and staff. Help me trust you with the numbers I cannot control and to keep my hands open to serve well. Go before me into every meeting and every sale, and let my work reflect your care for the people it touches. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray these words as you open your planner for the day. Ask God to help you stop relying only on your own understanding of the market, your competitors and your finances, and to acknowledge him in each choice before you make it.

Psalm 90:17

Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

(WEB)

Bring this verse to the work you have already done and the work still ahead. Ask that the effort of your hands would be established and would bear lasting fruit, not only in the next quarter but in the lives of the people you serve.

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Let this verse shape how you approach ordinary tasks like answering email, checking stock and returning calls. Ask God to help you work wholeheartedly, as though you were serving him directly in each small duty.

James 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

(WEB)

When you face a decision you cannot see past, pray this verse by name. Ask God for the wisdom you lack, trusting his promise to give it generously to anyone who asks, without holding back or making you feel foolish for needing help.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

(WEB)

Use this verse to commit your plans for the coming weeks into God’s hands. Pray that the goals you have set would be shaped by his purposes, and that you would hold them loosely enough to change course when he leads.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer at your desk, at the kitchen table or in your car before you walk into the shop or office. Keep a pen nearby and write down the specific names, deadlines and worries that come to mind as you pray. Returning to that list at lunchtime can turn a quick morning prayer into an ongoing conversation with God throughout the day.

Invite a business partner, a spouse or a trusted friend to pray it with you on a regular morning, or send it to your team to read together before the first shift. Praying as a group reminds everyone that the work is shared and that God cares for each person who depends on the business, not only its owner.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before you into every meeting and every sale today. May he give your team steady hands, your customers honest dealings and your business a good name built on faithfulness. Go in peace to your work, knowing that the one who holds the day holds you as well.
