This is a morning prayer for your wife’s work, meant to be prayed before she heads out the door or sits down at her desk. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and shape it around the particular people, deadlines and worries she will meet today.

Morning Prayer for My Wife’s Work

Lord, thank you for this new day and for the work you have placed in my wife’s hands. Before she has even had her coffee, I bring her to you. You know the emails waiting in her inbox, the meeting she is dreading, the colleague who is hard to work with, and the project that feels bigger than she can manage. Give her a clear mind when she begins, and help her to set her priorities in the right order so that the most important things do not get crowded out by the urgent ones.

Father, I ask that you would go ahead of her into every conversation today. Give her patience when she is interrupted, honesty when she is asked for an opinion, and kindness toward the people she works with, including those who frustrate her. Where she needs courage to speak up or to say no, give her that courage. Where she needs wisdom to know when to rest, remind her that she is not the one who holds everything together. Let her work today be done with integrity and care, as unto you. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my wife is about to step into her work. Go before her today. Steady her thoughts, guard her words, and give her the strength she needs for each task and each person she meets. Let her see your hand in the small things and trust you with the large ones. Thank you for her, and for the good you are doing through her. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Pray this verse over your wife’s work by asking God to help her see each task as something done for him, not only for a boss or a deadline. It can shift the weight of an ordinary Tuesday into something worth offering.

Psalm 90:17

Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

(WEB)

Ask that the work of her hands would be established and fruitful. Pray that whatever she builds today, whether a report, a lesson, a meal served or a patient cared for, would last in the ways that matter.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Use these verses to pray for her decisions today. Ask God to keep her from leaning only on her own understanding, especially when the path ahead is unclear or the stakes feel high.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

When pressure builds, pray that she would bring each worry to God in prayer and find a peace that does not depend on how the day goes. Ask that this peace would guard her heart and mind while she works.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Pray that she would remember, in the middle of a busy schedule, that she can come to Jesus for rest. Ask him to give her breaks in the day where she can pause and breathe, even briefly.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helps to pray this prayer in the quiet minutes before the day begins, such as while the kettle heats or before the house wakes up. If you are praying with your wife, you might sit beside her or hold her hand, and let her hear your voice. If you are apart, you can pray it while she commutes or send her a short text afterward saying you have been lifting her up.

You could also keep a simple note or a verse card near her keys, her laptop or her lunch bag, a small reminder that the prayer is still going on through the day. Some couples choose one line from the prayer to repeat at lunchtime or on the drive home. Let the prayer be a habit you return to, not a performance you have to get right.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before her in every task and beside her in every difficulty. May he bless the work of her hands, steady her heart, and let her end the day knowing she was faithful to what he gave her to do. The Lord bless her and keep her, and make his face shine upon her today.
