This morning prayer for my wife is written for the start of the day, before the coffee is poured and the first messages arrive. Read it aloud as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words what is on your heart about her. It can be prayed in bed, at the kitchen table, or while she is still asleep beside you.

Morning Prayer for My Wife

Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of my wife. Before she has had time to think about the day, I ask you to meet her first. Be near her when she wakes, and let her feel your presence before the list of tasks starts pressing on her mind. Give her a quiet first hour, even if the house is loud around her.

Father, you know the day she has ahead. You know the meetings, the phone calls, the errands, the people she will care for and the ones who will be hard to love. Give her wisdom for every decision she faces and patience for the moments that test it. Where she is tired, renew her strength. Where she is anxious about money, health, or the children, settle her heart so that she can rest in your care instead of carrying it alone.

Lord, I also ask you to bless her body and her spirit. Guard her from harm on the road and at work. Let her encounters today leave people better than they found them, and let her see evidence of your grace in small things. Surround her with friends and family who encourage her. Keep our marriage strong, so that I can love her well tonight as I have loved her this morning. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, bless my wife as she begins this day. Go before her into every room and conversation. Give her peace where she feels pressure, strength where she feels weak, and joy in the ordinary moments. Remind her that she is loved by you and by me. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Numbers 6:24-26

24 ‘The LORD bless you, and keep you. 25 The LORD make his face to shine on you, and be gracious to you. 26 The LORD lift up his face toward you, and give you peace.’

(WEB)

Pray this blessing over your wife as you would speak it to a child at bedtime. Ask that the Lord keep her, shine his face toward her, and give her peace as she moves through the morning.

Psalm 5:3

The LORD, in the morning you shall hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.

(WEB)

This verse is a model for morning prayer itself. Ask God to hear your wife’s first words of the day, and to receive her heart before anything else asks for her attention.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Thank God that his compassions are new each morning. Pray that your wife will wake to this truth and find fresh mercy waiting for her, even if yesterday was hard.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Ask the Lord to renew your wife’s strength for the work ahead. Pray that she will not grow weary in the tasks she carries, and that her energy will come from waiting on him.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray that any worries your wife brings into the day will be handed to God in prayer. Ask that the peace of God would guard her heart and mind as she goes about her responsibilities.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying this before you get out of bed, while your wife is still sleeping or as soon as she wakes. Keep your hand on her shoulder or hold her hand if she is awake and willing. Physical touch can make the prayer feel shared rather than distant, and it reminds both of you that you are facing the day together.

If you are not able to pray with her in the morning, consider praying it over a cup of tea or coffee at a time when you are alone. You might also invite a close friend or your church community to pray for her on the same day. Asking others to join you can deepen your own sense of trust and remind you that you are not the only one carrying her needs before God.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before her today and walk beside her through every hour. May she know his peace in the quiet moments and his strength in the demanding ones. May the people she meets feel the warmth of her kindness, and may she come home knowing she was deeply loved.
