This night prayer is for the end of a working day when you need to set your business down and rest. Pray it in the evening, after the last email is sent or the till is closed, or in bed before sleep. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where your concerns differ from the ones named here.

Night Prayer for My Business

Father, the day is finished and I bring my business to You as the light goes down. You know every order I took and every one I lost, every invoice I chased, every payroll figure that kept me awake. Thank You for the customers who came through the door today, for the suppliers who delivered what I needed, and for the staff who showed up and did good work. Thank You that I did not have to carry all of this alone.

Now I release what I could not finish. The cash flow worries, the bills that are due, the decisions I made in a hurry and the ones I am still unsure about, I place in Your hands. Forgive me where I was short with my team, where I chased profit at the cost of honesty, or where fear made me rush. Guard my name and the name of this business in the way I treat people. Give my mind rest tonight, so that I am not rehearsing tomorrow’s worries before I have even closed my eyes.

Watch over this business while I sleep. Protect what we have built from loss, from fraud, from accidents and from harm. Keep the premises safe, the equipment working, and the people I depend on well. Give wisdom to the choices still ahead, and open the doors You want opened in Your timing. Whatever tomorrow holds, let me meet it with a clear head and a willing heart. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am tired and my business is on my mind. I hand You the numbers I cannot fix tonight and the decisions I have not made. Thank You for today’s customers and for the people who work beside me. Keep this business safe while I sleep, and quiet my mind so I can rest. Give me clarity when I wake. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

Pray this verse as you lie down, letting the words settle your breathing. Tell God that you trust Him to hold the business while you sleep, and that you are choosing rest over another round of anxious planning.

Psalm 127:1-2

1 Unless the LORD builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman guards it in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

Use this passage to name the limits of your own effort. Ask God to build what you are working on, and confess that you cannot secure it by staying awake longer. Thank Him that rest is part of His design.

Matthew 6:34

Therefore don’t be anxious for tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Each day’s own evil is sufficient.

(WEB)

Bring tomorrow’s problems to God here, deliberately leaving them outside tonight’s prayer. Ask for the strength to deal with each day’s trouble when it arrives, rather than carrying every future worry now.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

(WEB)

Commit your plans for the business to the Lord by name. Pray over the strategy, the hiring, or the growth you are considering, asking God to direct the steps and to shape your plans toward what is good.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

(WEB)

Take each financial and operational worry and set it down in prayer, one by one if that helps. Thank God that He cares about the details of your work, even the ones that feel too small or too heavy to mention.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer at the close of your working day, ideally in the same place each night, such as your kitchen table, a chair by the window, or your bedside. Before you begin, close your laptop, put the phone face down, and take three slow breaths. If you have a notebook, write down the one or two worries that keep returning and read them aloud at the point in the prayer where you release what you could not finish.

If you run the business with a partner, a manager or a family member, you can pray this together, or ask one of them to pray it over you on the nights when the pressure feels heavy. Some people keep a short copy of the shorter version on a card by the bed, so that on nights when the longer prayer feels like too much, a few honest sentences are still within reach.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who keeps watch over Israel keep watch over your business and over you tonight. May your sleep be deep and your mind be still. May He bless the work of your hands, guard what you have built, and meet you with fresh strength when morning comes.
