When you feel tired, whether from long days, a heavy season or the plain weight of keeping going, these prayers give you honest words to bring to God. Pray them in the morning before the day takes hold, in the evening when your energy is spent, or in the middle of a hard hour. Read them aloud as written, or use them as a starting point and say the rest in your own words.
Prayers When You Feel Tired
Lord, I am tired. Some of it is in my body, the kind of tiredness that sleep does not fully fix. Some of it is in my mind, from decisions I keep turning over and worries that wake me before the alarm does. I have been carrying a lot, and I am not sure how much longer I can carry it on my own. Thank you that I do not have to pretend with you.
Be near to me in this weariness. Give me rest where I can actually receive it, in a quiet hour, a full night of sleep, or a few minutes of stillness with nothing demanded of me. Where I have been running on fumes, fill me up again. Show me which tasks can wait, which people can help, and which burdens I have been trying to hold that were never mine to hold alone. Help me to ask for help without shame.
Renew my strength for the things I still need to do, and give me patience with myself on the days I have less to give. Let my tiredness draw me closer to you rather than driving me further away. I trust you to keep me going, one step and then the next. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am worn out right now. I do not have words for all of it, but you know what is weighing on me. Give me enough strength for this next hour, and enough peace to breathe. Remind me that I am not carrying this alone, and that you see me even when I am too tired to see clearly. Amen.
Scriptures to Pray Alongside
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Jesus speaks directly to people who are weary and burdened. When you feel tired, read this slowly and let the invitation sink in, then tell him plainly where you are coming to him with your exhaustion.
Isaiah 40:29
He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.
(WEB)
This verse names the truth that human strength runs out while God’s does not. Pray it when you feel your reserves are empty, asking him to give you the power you lack in yourself.
Psalm 61:2
From the end of the earth, I will call to you, when my heart is overwhelmed. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I.
(WEB)
The psalmist cries out from a place where his heart feels faint and asks to be led to a higher rock. Use this verse to ask God to lift you above what is overwhelming you right now.
Psalm 62:1
My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him.
(WEB)
Waiting quietly on God is hard when you are tired, yet this verse points to him as the source of rest and salvation. Pray it slowly, letting the quiet become a place to be still before him.
2 Corinthians 12:9
He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.
(WEB)
Paul heard that God’s grace is enough in weakness. When you feel depleted, pray this verse to remember that your limits are not the end of the story, and that his strength shows up most clearly where you are weakest.
How to Pray This Prayer
Choose a moment when your body is at its most tired, often the first few minutes after you sit down at night or the pause before you start the morning routine. Sit or lie down in a comfortable position, and if your hands feel restless, hold a cup of tea, a blanket, or the edge of your pillow while you pray. Read the longer prayer once through, then return to the lines that catch in your heart and linger there.
You can also pray this prayer alongside someone you trust. A spouse, a friend, or a member of your church can read it aloud for you on a day when speaking feels too heavy. Asking another person to pray with you is itself a way of letting God’s care reach you through his people.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord who never grows weary give you rest for your soul and strength for the road ahead. May he meet you in the small hours and in the ordinary tasks, and may you know, even in your exhaustion, that you are held, seen, and loved by him.
