This list gives you Scripture to read and carry into the first days of the week, when the calendar is full and the mind is already running ahead. It is written for anyone who wants to begin Monday, or any new week, with God’s word rather than the to-do list.

The verses below share a common thread: they remind you that God meets you at the beginning of each day, that His mercies are renewed, and that the work of the week rests on His faithfulness rather than yours.

Verses for the Morning Before a Full Week

Some weeks begin with a packed calendar and a sense of dread before you have even had coffee. These verses speak to that early anxiety and point you toward a steady start.

Psalm 5:3

The LORD, in the morning you shall hear my voice. In the morning I will lay my requests before you, and will watch expectantly.

(WEB)

David speaks his prayer aloud in the morning and then waits expectantly. Try writing one sentence to God before you open your inbox, naming the first thing you will face on Monday.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

These words come from a book of grief, yet they declare that God’s mercies begin again each morning. Remind yourself of this as you wake, especially if last week ended badly.

Psalm 143:8

Cause me to hear your loving kindness in the morning, for I trust in you. Cause me to know the way in which I should walk, for I lift up my soul to you.

(WEB)

The psalmist asks God to let him hear of His steadfast love in the morning. Before reaching for your phone, speak this request out loud and ask God to show you His love first.

Verses for Entrusting Your Work to God

Monday often brings tasks you cannot control and deadlines you did not choose. These passages invite you to hand the week’s labor to the Lord and work with a settled heart.

Psalm 90:17

Let the favor of the Lord our God be on us; establish the work of our hands for us; yes, establish the work of our hands.

(WEB)

Moses asks that the favor of the Lord rest on the work of his people. Begin your first task by asking God to establish what you are doing, not just to help you finish it.

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Paul tells believers to work wholeheartedly, as for the Lord rather than for people alone. When a dull task comes up, decide to do it as an offering to God.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

(WEB)

This proverb links committing your work to the Lord with the plans being established. Write your main goal for the week on paper and place it beside that commitment.

Matthew 6:33

But seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things will be given to you as well.

(WEB)

Jesus tells His listeners to seek God’s kingdom first and trust that other needs will be met. Use this verse to order your priorities when competing demands pull at you on Monday.

Verses for Strength When the Week Feels Heavy

Even a good week can feel long by Wednesday. These verses offer courage and rest for the days when your energy runs low and the road ahead looks steep.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Isaiah describes those who wait on the Lord as renewed in strength. When you feel drained early in the week, pause for a minute, breathe slowly, and ask God to renew you.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

(WEB)

Paul writes this from prison, speaking of contentment in every circumstance. Use it to face one task you have been dreading, remembering that your strength comes from Christ.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus invites the weary and burdened to come to Him and find rest. Take a short break at midday to bring your tiredness to Him in simple, honest prayer.

Psalm 55:22

Cast your burden on the LORD, and he will sustain you. He will never allow the righteous to be moved.

(WEB)

This verse urges you to cast your burden on the Lord, who will sustain you. Name the heaviest part of your week aloud and then leave it with God before the day ends.

Verses for Trusting God with the Unknown Week Ahead

No one knows exactly what the coming days will hold. These passages anchor you in God’s knowledge and care for the unseen parts of your week.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Solomon calls the reader to trust the Lord fully rather than leaning on personal understanding. On Sunday evening, write down one area where you are tempted to control the outcome and entrust it to God.

James 4:14-15

14 Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor, that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away. 15 For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”

(WEB)

James reminds us that our lives are brief and that plans should be held with an open hand before the Lord. Keep this in mind when you set goals, so they stay humble and prayerful.

Psalm 118:24

This is the day that the LORD has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it!

(WEB)

The psalmist declares that this is the day the Lord has made, and invites joy in it. Speak this verse as you step out the door on Monday morning to choose gratitude over dread.

Deuteronomy 31:8

The LORD himself is who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you. Don’t be afraid. Don’t be discouraged.”

(WEB)

Moses tells Israel that the Lord goes before them and will not leave them. Let this promise settle you before any meeting, appointment or unexpected call that the week may bring.

How to Use These Verses

Choose two or three verses that match what you are facing this week, and write them on a card, in a notebook or as a phone note you can see first thing in the morning. Reading them in the same place each Monday helps them become part of your rhythm rather than a one-time reading.

Pray through one verse each morning by turning it into a short conversation with God. Ask Him what the verse means for the particular tasks, people and worries of that day, and then listen quietly for a moment before you begin.

A Short Prayer for the Start of the Week

Lord, thank You for giving me another week and for meeting me again in the morning. Before I open my messages or look at my calendar, I bring You the work ahead, the people I will see, and the worries I am carrying. Help me to seek Your kingdom first and to do my work as an offering to You. When the days feel long, renew my strength and remind me that Your mercies are new. Go before me, and let me rest in Your faithfulness each day. Amen.
