These short Bible verses are for when you feel tired, whether that means physical exhaustion, emotional fatigue, or the quiet weariness of carrying too much for too long. Each verse is brief enough to remember in the middle of a busy day. Together they point to the same truth: God does not ask you to hold yourself up, and he sees the people who are running on empty.

Verses for the Morning When You Wake Up Already Tired

Some mornings the alarm feels like an accusation before the day has even started. These verses are for those moments, when your body is heavy and the to-do list is already long. They speak to the reality that strength is not something you manufacture on your own.

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

Your mind may be racing through tasks before your feet touch the floor. This verse invites you to stop for a moment and be still. Try taking three slow breaths before you check your phone, and let that pause remind you that you are not in charge of everything.

Psalm 56:3

When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.

(WEB)

Fear and fatigue often travel together, especially when the day feels uncertain. This verse names trust as the answer to fear. Write the phrase “When I am afraid, I will trust you” on a sticky note and place it where you will see it while you get ready for work.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

This verse is written for people who have reached the end of their own energy. It says God gives strength to the weary, which means your tiredness is not a failure of faith. When you feel depleted, ask him plainly for the strength you lack, and then take the next small step.

Verses for the Afternoon Slump and Long Work Hours

The middle of the day can drain you in ways that are hard to explain to anyone else. These verses address the grinding fatigue of long shifts, heavy workloads, and responsibilities that never seem to pause. They offer rhythm and perspective when your reserves are low.

Matthew 11:28

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

(WEB)

Jesus speaks directly to people who are worn out and burdened. When you are at your desk and the weight feels unbearable, picture setting that weight down for a moment. You might pray a single sentence, asking him to take what you cannot carry today.

Psalm 121:2

My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth.

(WEB)

Help that comes from outside your own effort is what this psalm describes. During a long afternoon, remind yourself where your help actually originates. Looking up from your screen for thirty seconds and saying the words quietly can reset your attention more than another cup of coffee.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing.

(WEB)

Praying without ceasing does not mean hours on your knees, especially when you are exhausted. It means keeping a running conversation with God through the day. Whisper a short prayer while you wait for a page to load or walk to the car, and let those small moments add up.

Verses for the Evening When Your Strength Is Gone

By nightfall, many people feel emptied out, with little left for conversation or even for thinking clearly. These verses are meant for that late-day stillness. They point to rest as a gift and to a God who keeps watch even while you sleep.

Psalm 127:2

It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones.

(WEB)

This verse says God gives sleep to those he loves, which is a gentle correction to the idea that you must keep striving every hour. If guilt about unfinished tasks keeps you awake, name those tasks to God and then set them down until tomorrow.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, the LORD alone, make me live in safety.

(WEB)

The psalmist finds peace in lying down because God keeps him safe. Before you turn off the light, you might say the verse aloud, letting the words replace the replay of the day. Choosing peace at bedtime is a practice you can return to each night.

Psalm 62:1

My soul rests in God alone. My salvation is from him.

(WEB)

Waiting quietly on God is hard when you are tired and everything feels urgent. This verse describes a settled, unhurried trust. Try sitting in a dim room for two minutes before bed, with no screen, and simply rest in the thought that your soul can be quiet.

1 John 4:19

We love him, because he first loved us.

(WEB)

Love is the reason we can rest, because God loved us first. When you feel too worn out to earn anything, this verse reminds you that your standing does not depend on your performance today. Let that truth be the last thing you think about before sleep.

How to Use These Verses

Choose one verse that fits your current season and write it on a card, in a notes app, or on the back of your hand. Keep it where tiredness tends to strike hardest, whether that is the kitchen counter, the car dashboard, or your bedside table. A single verse read slowly is more useful on a tired day than a long passage skimmed quickly.

When you pray these verses, speak them back to God in your own words. Start with the verse, then add one honest sentence about how you feel, such as “I am drained, and I need you to carry this.” Repeating the same verse for a week is a good way to let it sink in, especially when fatigue makes new reading hard to absorb.

A Short Prayer for when you feel tired

Lord, I am tired in my body and in my heart, and I do not have much to give today. Thank you that you do not grow weary, and that you see me when I feel unseen. Give me rest where I need it, and strength for the next step, not the whole week. Help me to stop trying to be enough on my own, and to remember that you are the one who holds everything together. Quiet my thoughts and let me trust you with what I cannot finish. Amen.
