This short morning prayer is for asking God to strengthen your body and mind before the day starts. Pray it when you first wake up, while you sit on the edge of the bed or before you reach for your phone. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to the things you are carrying.
Short Morning Prayer for My Health
Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the breath you have given me to start it. I come to you before I check my messages or think about the list of things waiting for me. You know how my body feels this morning, the aches I notice, the tiredness that still hangs on, and the things I am worried about that I have not yet said out loud. Nothing about my health is hidden from you.
Please give me strength for the hours ahead. Steady my heart and my lungs, ease any pain that is still with me, and help my body do the quiet work of healing that I cannot see. Guide the doctors, nurses and pharmacists I will talk with, and give me wisdom to ask the right questions and to listen well. Keep me from anxious thoughts about what I cannot control, and remind me that you are near in every appointment, every test result and every long night. Let me take the medicine I need, rest when I need rest, and move when I am able. Be my health when mine feels weak. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I am starting this day with you. Be close to my body, my energy and my mind. Give me the strength I need for what is ahead, and calm the worry I feel about my health. Help me take care of myself with wisdom and gentleness, and let me trust you with what I cannot fix. Amen.

When worry about your health rises early in the morning, use this passage to hand it over. Ask God to take your anxious thoughts and replace them with a peace that does not depend on test results or how you feel at breakfast.
How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer in the first few minutes after you wake up, before the day fills with noise. Sitting in the same chair with a cup of water or tea within reach can help you settle. If you take morning medication, you might pray as you swallow it, letting the routine remind you of God’s care.
You can also invite someone you trust to pray it with you, or send it to a family member or friend who is walking through illness. Keep a copy somewhere you will see it, like the bathroom mirror or the kitchen counter, so you can return to it on the hard mornings. Pray it again whenever a new worry comes up during the day.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this day and strengthen your body and your heart. May he keep you steady, give you rest when you need it, and surround you with people who care for you. May his peace guard you wherever you go.
