This short prayer for finding strength is for the moments when you feel worn thin, whether by a hard week, a long illness, a difficult relationship, or simply the weight of getting through another day. Pray it when you wake up without energy, in the middle of a stressful afternoon, or late at night when you cannot seem to rest. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in its place.

Short Prayer for Finding Strength

Lord, I come to you because I am tired. My body is heavy, my mind keeps running through the same worries, and I am not sure how I will get through what is in front of me. I confess that some days I try to carry everything on my own, and then I wonder why I feel empty. Please meet me here, in this exact place of weakness, and remind me that you are not surprised by it.

Give me strength for the next step, not the whole road. Steady my hands for the work I must do, and quiet my heart enough to hear your voice above the noise of fear. Where I have no wisdom, give me wisdom, and where I have no courage, give me courage that comes from you. Let me rest in your faithfulness when my own supply runs out.

Renew me, Father, and let your presence be more real to me than my exhaustion. Help me trust that you are able to do far more in me than I can manage by myself. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am running on empty right now. Give me strength for this moment, and then for the one after it. Steady my breathing, calm my thoughts, and remind me that I am not alone in this. Help me take the next small step with you beside me. I trust you to carry what I cannot carry on my own. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel drained and powerless. Ask God to give you the strength you lack, and thank him that his strength is offered most freely to those who have nothing left of their own.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

Use this verse when your body or heart is failing. Ask God to be the steady center of your life, the one source you can always return to when everything else gives way.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when a task feels bigger than you are. Ask God to let his strength flow through you into the specific thing you face today, not into an imagined future.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

(WEB)

Bring this verse to God when you feel threatened or overwhelmed. Ask him to be your refuge in the middle of the trouble, so that your strength rests on his nearness rather than on your own endurance.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when you feel ashamed of your weakness. Ask God to show you that your limits are not a failure in his eyes, and that his grace is enough for exactly where you are today.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying the longer version first thing in the morning, before you check your phone or start your to-do list. Sit in a chair you find comfortable, with a cup of something warm in your hands, and let the prayer set the tone for the day. If you can, read it slowly, pausing after each sentence to notice what is stirring in you.

You might also pray it with someone else. Share it with a spouse, a friend, or a small group, and ask them to pray it back to you when your own words run out. The shorter version works well during a break at work, in the car before you walk into a difficult meeting, or beside a hospital bed while you wait.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who gives strength to the weary be near you today. May he steady your steps, renew your spirit, and remind you that your worth is not measured by what you can produce. May you rest in his faithfulness and find, in his presence, the strength you need for the hour ahead.
