These short prayers for daughters are written for parents, grandparents, aunts, and anyone who loves a girl or young woman and wants to bring her before God. Pray them when you wake up anxious for her, when she leaves the house for school or work, when you drive home after a hard conversation, or when you simply cannot find the words yourself. You can read the main prayer aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own voice.

Short Prayers for Daughters

Father, I bring my daughter to you today. You know her better than I ever will. You knit her together in her mother’s womb, You know the number of her days, and You know the thoughts she has not yet put into words. I ask that You would guard her heart from fear and from the quiet lies that tell her she is not enough. Give her a settled sense of who she is in You, so that her worth does not rise and fall with the opinions of others.

Be near her in the friendships she is building and in the ones that are ending. Give her wisdom to choose good companions and courage to be kind when kindness is hard. Protect her body and her mind from harm, and help her to honor herself and others. Where she is confused about the future, lead her one step at a time, and let her trust that You are already there. When she falls short, let her run to You quickly and not hide. Make her brave, make her gentle, and make her someone who knows she is deeply loved. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I give you my daughter as she is right now. Calm her worries, steady her steps, and remind her that you are with her. Help her to trust you with what she cannot control. Keep her safe, keep her honest, and keep her close to your heart. Let her feel your love today in some small, real way. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 139:13-14

13 For you formed my inmost being. You knit me together in my mother’s womb. 14 I will give thanks to you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your works are wonderful. My soul knows that very well.

Pray this slowly over your daughter, thanking God that He formed her with intention and care. It is a good verse to speak when she doubts her appearance or her worth, reminding her that her life was made by a wise and loving Creator.

Isaiah 41:10

Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness.

Use this verse when she faces something frightening or uncertain. Ask God to make her aware of His presence, and let her hear that He is her strength even when she feels weak.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

Pray this for her decisions about school, work, and relationships. Ask that she would lean on God more than her own understanding and that He would make her paths clear as she goes.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

This passage speaks to the worry that keeps many daughters awake at night. Ask God to replace her anxious thoughts with His peace, and pray that she would bring her requests to Him first.

1 Peter 5:7

Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you.

Pray that your daughter would believe God truly cares about her burdens, big and small. Ask that she would hand her cares to Him again and again, trusting that He is not indifferent to her hurts.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many parents find that the early morning works well, before the house wakes up and the day pulls everyone in different directions. Sit with a cup of coffee, keep a Bible or your phone nearby, and read the main prayer slowly, pausing after each line to picture her face. If you are praying with her in person, you might place a hand on her shoulder or hold her hand while you speak, so that the prayer becomes something she can feel as well as hear.

You do not need to pray this alone. Invite a spouse, a grandparent, a pastor, or a trusted friend to join you, or ask your daughter if she would like to pray with you herself. If you are not able to be with her, write the shorter prayer on a card and keep it in your wallet or on your desk, so that whenever you think of her you can lift her up right then.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her. May He make His face shine upon her and be gracious to her. May she walk in confidence, rest in His love, and grow into the woman He has planned for her. May the people around her see her light, and may she always know that she is seen, known, and deeply cherished.
