This daily prayer for my son is written for parents, grandparents, and anyone who loves a boy or young man and wants to bring him before God each morning. Pray it at the start of the day, while the house is quiet or on the drive to school, and read it aloud as written or use it as a starting point for your own words. Either way, it gives you a steady place to begin.
Daily Prayer for My Son
Lord, I bring my son to you again today. You know his name, his moods, the questions he is carrying that he may not have words for yet. Be near him when he wakes up tired, when he sits at the breakfast table pretending not to listen, and when he walks out the door into a day I cannot see. Guard his body and his health. Keep him safe on the road, at school, and wherever his friends take him.
Shape his heart while he is young. Help him tell the truth when it costs him something, and give him the courage to be kind when no one is watching. When he feels small or left out, remind him that he is seen and valued by you. When he is tempted to hide, draw him back into the light. Give him friends who build him up and mentors who point him to you. Teach him to work hard, to rest well, and to care for the people around him.
Father, I also release my fears to you. I do not want to hover or control what I cannot control. Help me to trust you with his future, to speak words of love more often than words of correction, and to be a steady presence in his life. Let him grow up knowing that he belongs to you first. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I lift my son to you right now. Watch over him today and give him wisdom beyond his years. Protect him from harm and guide his steps toward what is good. Help him know your love in a way he can feel. Keep my heart patient and my words gentle when we speak. Thank you for him, and help him walk closely with you. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer
Many people find it helpful to pray this prayer at a set time, such as while the coffee brews, during a quiet moment before the rest of the house wakes up, or in the car before dropping him off. Choose a place where you will not be interrupted, and keep a Bible or this page nearby so you can return to the verses. Some parents write the prayer on a card and tuck it into a lunchbox or a bag as a reminder to keep praying during the day.
It can also help to pray with something in your hands. You might hold a photo of your son, touch the steering wheel, or rest a hand on his bedroom doorframe as you pass by. If your spouse, a friend, or another family member shares this concern, invite them to pray the same prayer with you, or to take a line each. Praying together can ease the weight of carrying a child’s future alone.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord bless your son and keep him. May he make his face shine upon him and be gracious to him. May he grow strong in faith, steady in heart, and kind in spirit. And may the peace of God guard the way he goes, today and every day.
