Prayers for good health ask God to strengthen your body, steady your mind and guide the people who care for you. You can pray them at the start of a day, before a medical appointment, during a long night of worry, or whenever you feel your strength running low. Read the prayer below aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words into the same requests.

Prayers for Good Health

Lord, you formed my body with care and you know every part of me better than I know myself. I bring you my health today, the things I can feel and the things I cannot yet see. Be near to my heart, my lungs, my blood and my nerves. Where something is weak, make it strong. Where something is painful, bring comfort. Where something is unknown, give me patience and peace while we wait for answers.

Father, I also ask for wisdom for the doctors, nurses and caregivers who work with me or with my family. Guide their hands and their decisions. Help me to take the care I need, to rest when I am tired, to eat and move in ways that honor the body you gave me, and to ask for help without shame. Keep my mind from spinning in fear at night, and let my thoughts settle on what is true and good. Thank you for the health I do have. Restore what is lost as you see fit, and give me grace for whatever comes. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I need your help with my health right now. Strengthen my body, calm my mind and be close to me in this moment. Give wisdom to those who care for me and peace to my heart while I wait. Thank you that I can bring you every concern, large or small. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

(WEB)

Use these words to thank God for the healing and mercy you have already received. Gratitude softens anxiety and reminds you that the Lord who forgave and healed in the past is still at work today.

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O the LORD, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.

(WEB)

Pray this verse as a direct request, naming the specific part of your body or mind that needs healing. Jeremiah’s cry is honest and bold, and it gives you permission to ask God plainly for what you need.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

When your energy is gone, pray this verse slowly and let it remind you that God gives strength to the weary. Ask him to renew what you have lost, one small step at a time.

3 John 1:2

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers.

(WEB)

John’s greeting expresses a wish that a friend would be well in body as well as in soul. Pray it over yourself or someone you love, asking God to bring physical wholeness alongside spiritual growth.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Health worries can flood the mind, so pray this passage when fear begins to take over. Bring each concern to God with thanksgiving and ask him to guard your heart and thoughts with his peace.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray for their health first thing in the morning, before the day’s demands begin. Sit in a quiet chair, place one hand on your chest or your stomach, and breathe slowly as you read the words. The gentle touch of your own hand can make the prayer feel personal and grounded in your actual body.

You can also pray this prayer on behalf of someone else by changing the pronouns from “I” to “she” or “he” and naming that person aloud. Ask a friend or family member to pray it with you, or share it with a small group who can keep you in their prayers. Writing the prayer in a notebook and dating it lets you see over weeks how God has been faithful.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who made your body and knows your heart keep you in his care today. May he give you strength for each step, rest for each night, and peace that goes deeper than any report or result. May you know that you are never alone in your health, and may his goodness surround you wherever you go.
