If you are looking for a morning prayer for my friends, this page gives you one you can read aloud as written, or use as a starting point for your own words. It is meant for the first minutes of the day, before messages start arriving and the schedule takes over, when you want to place the people you love into God’s hands before you meet them again.
Morning Prayers for My Friends
Father, thank you for this new morning. Before I check my phone or start the coffee, I want to bring my friends to you. Some of them are carrying heavy things today: a diagnosis they are still processing, a job that feels one bad meeting away from disaster, a marriage that is quiet in the wrong way, or a child who has stopped answering their texts. You know each of these burdens by name, and you know what I cannot see from where I stand. Go before them into the hours ahead.
Give my friends rest that is more than sleep. Where anxiety has been keeping them awake, settle their thoughts. Where they feel alone, remind them that you have not left them. Give them wisdom for the decisions they will face today, small ones like what to say in a hard conversation and big ones they have been avoiding. Meet them at the kitchen table, in the car, at the hospital waiting room, and on the walk to work. Let them sense your nearness in ordinary places.
Lord, let me be a good friend to them today. Help me to listen more than I speak, to ask the question that opens a door, and to keep my promises even when they are inconvenient. If I can help carry something, show me what it is and give me the nerve to offer. Whatever this day holds for them, let them end it knowing they were loved by you and by people who were praying for them. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, my friends are on my heart this morning. Walk with each of them through what they face today, the good and the difficult. Give them strength for what they must do, peace where they are afraid, and a sense of your presence in ordinary moments. Help me to be kind, honest and present with them. Amen.

Read this as a reminder that God knows your friends fully, including what they have not told anyone. Pray that they would feel known by him this morning, and that they would feel safe bringing their whole day to him.
How to Pray This Prayer
Pray this prayer while you are still in bed, sitting at the kitchen table with a cup of something warm, or during the first walk of the morning. Keep a short list of friends on your phone’s notes app so you can read through it without searching your memory. If you have a few minutes, pray for one friend each morning across the week, so that everyone on your list receives focused attention over time.
You do not need special words or a long time. If a friend comes to mind during the day, pause for a breath and whisper a short sentence like “Lord, be with them now.” If you are praying with a spouse, roommate or small group, take turns naming a friend and let each person add one line. Sharing the list this way often helps the person praying notice needs they had not seen before.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before each of your friends today and walk beside them in every hour. May he keep them steady, give them clear wisdom, and surround them with people who show up with kindness. May they feel his nearness in small moments and know that they are seen, held and loved.
