This morning prayer for good health is for the moment you wake up and begin to think about your body, your energy, and the day ahead. Pray it before you check your phone or start the first task, and read it aloud as written or use it as a starting point for your own words. Either way, you are placing your health in God’s hands before anything else asks for your attention.
Morning Prayer for Good Health
Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the breath you have given me to take it in. I come to you first, before the coffee, before the messages, before the list of things I need to do. You know how my body feels today. You know the ache in my back, the tiredness that has been building all week, the worry I carried to bed last night about the test results, the appointment, or the medicine that still isn’t working the way we hoped. Give me strength for the hours ahead, and let my body have the rest and healing it needs.
Bless the people I will see today. Be with the nurse, the doctor, the coworker who is sick and still came in, and the friend who is waiting for news about their own health. Guard my heart from fear when the day brings bad news, and steady my hands when I need to lift, drive, cook, or care for someone who depends on me. Help me make wise choices about food, water, movement, and rest, and give me the self-control to follow through on them even when I am tempted to skip them. I trust you with the parts of my health I cannot control, and I ask you to be near me in every one of them. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I’m starting this day in need of you. Keep my body strong enough for what lies ahead, and calm my mind when I feel anxious about my health. Guide the choices I make about eating, moving, and resting. Be near the people I love who are unwell, and let me be a help to them today. Thank you that I am never outside your care. Amen.

Isaiah 40:29-31
29 He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might. 30 Even the youths faint and get weary, and the young men utterly fall; 31 But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

Psalm 91:1-2
1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.”

Pray this verse as an act of trust, placing yourself under God’s protection for the day. Name the specific fears or risks you are facing and tell him, in your own words, that you are choosing to rest in him.
How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer while you are still sitting on the edge of your bed or standing at the kitchen sink, before the noise of the day takes over. If you can, keep a glass of water nearby and take a sip after each paragraph, letting the act remind you that God cares for your body as well as your soul. Some people find it helpful to put a hand on their chest or their stomach while they pray, which turns the words into something physical and grounded.
You might also pray this with someone else, such as a spouse, a roommate, or a family member who is caring for a sick loved one. Take turns reading the paragraphs, and when you finish, ask one another what health concern is on their heart today. Praying together in the morning can keep you accountable to one another and make it easier to remember each other through the hours that follow.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord strengthen the body you live in and steady the heart that carries its worries. May he give you rest that restores, food that nourishes, and the good sense to care for yourself well. Whatever the day brings, may you walk through it knowing that you are held, watched over, and loved.
