This short prayer is for anyone who wants to bring their boss before God, whether the relationship is smooth, strained, or simply busy and hard to read. You can pray it in the morning before the workday begins, on the drive in, or during a short break when your thoughts keep returning to a difficult conversation or decision. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words in where your heart needs to say more.

Short Prayer for My Boss

Father, thank You that You see the person I work for, even on the days I find it hard to see them clearly. I bring my boss to You today. Give them wisdom for the decisions on their desk, clarity when the priorities keep shifting, and patience when the pressure builds. Guard their health and their sleep, and let them feel supported rather than alone with the weight of their responsibilities. Where they carry worries about the team, the budget, or their own family, meet them there and steady their heart.

Lord, help me to be a good colleague in return. Where I have been impatient, quick to judge, or unwilling to see things from their side, forgive me and give me a humbler spirit. Let my words be honest and kind, and my work be done with care, so that they can trust me. If there is conflict between us, soften it on both sides, and show us both a way forward that honors You. Bless the work of our hands and make our labor useful to the people we serve. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, my boss is carrying a lot today. Give them wisdom for what is in front of them, peace in the middle of the pressure, and rest when the day is done. Help me to speak and act with honesty and grace toward them. Thank You that they are not beyond Your care, and that You are at work in my workplace too. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

James 1:5

But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach; and it will be given to him.

(WEB)

Pray this for your boss when they face a decision that has no obvious answer. Ask God to give them the wisdom they need, and trust that He is generous in giving it to anyone who asks.

Proverbs 16:3

Commit your deeds to the LORD, and your plans shall succeed.

(WEB)

Pray this for your boss as they plan their projects and goals. Ask that their plans would be entrusted to the Lord, and that their steps would be guided by Him rather than by anxiety.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Pray this for your boss when their worries about work seem to crowd out sleep and peace. Ask God to meet them in prayer and to guard their heart and mind with a peace that is larger than their circumstances.

Ephesians 6:9

You masters, do the same things to them, and give up threatening, knowing that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no partiality with him.

(WEB)

Pray this for your boss and for yourself, that both of you would remember that there is a Master in heaven who sees every workplace relationship. Ask that fairness and humility would mark how you both treat one another.

Colossians 3:23

And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men…

(WEB)

Pray this for your boss as they lead their team, that their work would be done as service to the Lord and not only for approval or recognition. Ask that this would bring them a deeper sense of purpose in their daily responsibilities.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it helpful to pray for their boss at the start of the workday, before email and meetings take over. Sit somewhere quiet for a minute, with your coffee or your bag beside you, and read the prayer slowly. If you can, pray it before you walk into the office, so that the first thing you do on arrival is see your boss as someone God loves rather than only as the person who sets your tasks.

You might also keep a note on your phone with your boss’s name and one or two specific needs you have noticed, such as a looming deadline or a family difficulty they have mentioned. Your hands can help too: write their name on a card, or simply hold something in your palm while you pray. Consider inviting a trusted friend or a small group from your church to pray for your boss with you, so the burden is shared and the prayers are carried by more than one person.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord give your boss wisdom for every decision, strength for each long day, and a settled peace that no deadline can take away. May He help you both to work with integrity and kindness, and may your shared labor bring Him honor. Go in peace, knowing that the One who watches over your workplace is faithful to His people.
