This morning prayer is for anyone waiting on healing, whether from an illness, a surgery, a injury, or a long season of weakness. Pray it when you first wake, before the day’s appointments, medications, and small demands press in. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own words to what your body and heart are carrying today.
Morning Prayer for My Recovery
Lord, I wake up today knowing that my body is still healing, and I bring that truth to you before I bring anything else. Some mornings my strength feels low and my patience feels thin. Be near me as I sit up, as I take my first breath, and as I wonder how this day will go. Give me the sense of your presence before I reach for my phone or my pills.
Father, I ask you to guide the hours ahead. Go before me to the doctor’s office, the physical therapy session, the phone call with the insurance company, and the conversation with the family member who worries about me. Steady my hands for whatever I need to do, and give me rest in the moments I can take it. Where I am tempted to push too hard, remind me to listen to my body. Where I am tempted to give up hope, remind me that you are still working.
Thank you for the gift of this new day and for every small sign of progress, even the ones no one else notices. Heal what needs healing, comfort what cannot yet be healed, and let my recovery be a place where your faithfulness shows. Help me trust you one step at a time. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am still healing, and this morning I need you. Be with my body as it works to mend, and give me strength for the first task of the day. Calm my fears about what the day holds, and remind me that you are with me in every hour. Let me rest in your care while I wait for the good you are bringing. Amen.
Scriptures to Pray Alongside

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

When you are tired before the day has even started, pray this promise over your weariness. Ask God to renew your strength in the particular ways you need, whether for walking, thinking, or simply enduring.

How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer in the first few minutes after you wake, while you are still sitting on the edge of the bed or before you swing your legs out. Keep a small glass of water nearby and let your hands rest on your lap or on your chest as you speak. If your mornings are especially hard, you can pray the shorter version while you take your medications or wait for the coffee to brew.
Consider inviting a spouse, friend, or caregiver to pray it with you, or to pray it for you on days when you are too tired to speak. Write the prayer on a card and place it where you will see it, such as on the bathroom mirror or beside your phone charger. Return to it when the day feels heavy, and let it remind you that recovery is something you can bring to God again and again.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord strengthen your body and quiet your mind as you begin this day. May he walk beside you through every appointment, every task, and every quiet hour of waiting. May you know that you are seen, cared for, and held, and may you feel his peace settle over you as you move toward healing.
