This morning prayer is for anyone who wakes up needing strength for the day and healing for a body, mind or heart that is still hurting. You can pray it aloud exactly as written, or read it once and then put it in your own words. Pray it when you first wake, before your phone or your worries get a turn.

Morning Prayers for Strength and Healing

Lord, I open my eyes to a new day, and before I think about anything else I want to thank You for the gift of this morning. You know how I slept, how my body feels as I sit up, and what is weighing on me before I have even put my feet on the floor. I bring You the pain I am carrying, the tiredness that will not lift, and the worry about how I will get through the things on my calendar. Give me strength for the tasks ahead, the conversations I will have, and the people who will need something from me today. Where my body or spirit is wounded, I ask for healing, and where healing comes slowly, give me patience and hope to keep going. Be my strength when mine runs low by mid-morning, and steady my heart when the news is hard. I trust You with this day one hour at a time. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I am starting this day in need of You. Give me strength for what is in front of me, and healing for what hurts in my body and heart. Go before me into every hard moment and walk beside me through each one. Let me see Your faithfulness before the day is over. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Read this slowly when you feel worn out before the day has started. Ask God to renew your strength in the specific places you feel drained, and then wait on Him for the next step.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

Use this verse when your body or heart feels like it is failing. Pray that God would be the steady strength underneath you, even when your own resources run out.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

Bring this verse to God when you need healing for a wound that is physical, emotional or spiritual. Name the specific hurt and ask Him to bind it up in His own time.

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O the LORD, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.

(WEB)

Pray this as a simple request for healing and rescue. It is a short, honest cry that fits well at the start of a day when you do not yet know how things will go.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

Use this verse when you feel weak and inadequate for the day ahead. Ask God to let His strength show most clearly in the places where you are most aware of your limits.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray it first thing, while you are still sitting on the edge of the bed or standing at the kitchen sink with your first cup of coffee. A few quiet minutes before you check messages or turn on the news give your heart a chance to settle. You might hold a glass of water or rest a hand on your chest as you speak, which helps many people stay present to the words instead of rushing through them.

If someone you love is sick or struggling, you can pray this prayer over them too, changing “I” to “they” or “us” as you need to. Keep a copy on your nightstand or in your phone notes so you can return to it on hard mornings. Some people pray it with a spouse, a friend, or a small group on a shared call, and find that hearing someone else ask for strength makes it easier to ask for their own.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord strengthen you for every task this day brings and carry you through every hour that feels too heavy. May He touch the places in your body and heart that need healing, and give you peace while you wait for it. May you go out today knowing you are held, seen and never left to face the day alone.
