This morning prayer for the week ahead gives you words to bring before God at the start of a new week, when the calendar is full and the first hours still feel quiet. Pray it when you first sit up, over coffee, or on the drive to work, before your phone and inbox pull your attention in every direction. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak in your own words, adding the names and tasks that are on your heart.

Morning Prayer for the Week Ahead

Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of another week. Before I look at my calendar or check my messages, I want to place these days in your hands. You know the meetings I face, the deadlines that feel heavy, the conversations I have been dreading, and the people who will need my patience before the week is over. Give me clear thinking when I have to make decisions, and a steady heart when things do not go to plan.

Help me to be kind to the people I work with, the family I live with, and the stranger who crosses my path at the store or on the road. Keep me from rushing past the people who matter most. When I am tempted to measure my worth by how much I get done, remind me that I am your child first. Guard my body with rest and sleep, and show me where I have been carrying things you never asked me to carry.

Whatever this week brings, be my strength and my companion. Go before me into each day, stay with me through each task, and walk beside me when I come home tired. Thank you that I do not face any of it alone. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, I give you this week before it gives me its demands. Walk ahead of me into every meeting, every errand, and every hard conversation. Give me patience with the people I love and wisdom for the choices I must make. Keep my heart steady and my hands useful, and help me end the week knowing you were with me every day. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 46:10

“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. I will be exalted in the earth.”

(WEB)

Use this verse to slow down before the week speeds up. Ask God to quiet the noise in your mind so you can recognize his presence in the busy hours ahead, and let it steady you before the first appointment.

Lamentations 3:22-23

22 It is because of the LORD’s loving kindnesses that we are not consumed, because his compassion doesn’t fail. 23 They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.

(WEB)

Pray this when yesterday’s failures or unfinished work still weigh on you. Thank God for mercies that are new each morning, and ask him to help you start this week free of old regrets.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Bring your plans for the week to God and admit that you do not see every turn ahead. Ask him to direct your decisions, especially the ones where you feel unsure about what to do first.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

Read this when you already feel tired before the week has even begun. Ask God to renew your strength for the tasks that require endurance, and to help you rest well so you can keep going.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Use this passage for the worries that tend to crowd your thinking early in the week. Name each concern to God in prayer with thanksgiving, and ask for the peace that guards your heart when your mind starts racing.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying this prayer in the first few minutes after you wake, before you pick up your phone. Sit somewhere quiet, such as the edge of the bed, a kitchen chair, or a spot by the window, and hold a cup of something warm in your hands while you speak. If you open your planner or calendar beforehand, you can pray through each day as you look at it, asking God to meet you in the specific meetings, errands, and people written there.

You might also share this prayer with someone who shares your week, such as a spouse, roommate, or close friend. Reading it together over breakfast or a quick phone call can turn a solitary habit into a small act of support for both of you. Choose one or two lines to remember during the day, and return to them whenever you feel the week closing in.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before you in every task this week and stand with you in every hard moment. May he give you rest when you are weary, wisdom when you are uncertain, and kindness toward everyone you meet. May you walk through these days knowing you are deeply loved and never forgotten.
