This morning prayer is written for anyone heading into work today, whether that means an office, a shift, a classroom, a job site, or a home where the work never stops. Pray it as you wake, over coffee, in the car, or at the door on your way out, reading it aloud as written or using it as a starting point for your own words.

Morning Prayer for Those Working Today

Lord, thank You for this new morning. Before the phone starts buzzing and the first meeting begins, I give You the day ahead. You already know what it holds: the emails waiting in my inbox, the deadline that feels closer than it did yesterday, the coworker who is harder to work with than I would like, and the customer who will be frustrated before I have said a word. Give me steady hands and a clear mind. Help me do my work with care, even the parts nobody will notice.

Father, some of us are carrying more than our job descriptions. Some of us are worried about money, about whether the position will last, or about a family member who needs us at home tonight. Be near to each of us. Where we feel stretched thin, remind us that our worth does not rise and fall with our productivity. Give us patience with those we serve and honesty with those who depend on us. Keep us from cutting corners that would shame us later, and help us speak kindly when we are tired. Let our work reflect Your character, not because we are perfect, but because You are helping us along the way.

Lord, I ask for Your presence in every task, every conversation, and every quiet hour at my desk or on my feet. When the day feels long, remind me that You are with me in it. When I succeed, keep me humble. When I fail, give me grace to learn and to try again. Go before me into this day, and meet me there. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am heading into work, and I need You there with me. Give me focus for what matters most, patience with the people I meet, and honesty in everything I do. Help me to treat each task as work done for You, and carry me through whatever this day brings. Thank You that I am not walking into it alone. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer

Pray this prayer before you check your phone or open your laptop, while the house is still quiet or during the commute when your mind is clear. If you work with your hands, you might hold a coffee mug, rest your palm on the steering wheel, or touch the tool or badge you will use today as a physical reminder to bring God into the workday. Choose one line from the prayer that speaks to your situation most and return to it when the day gets hard.

You can also pray this for a spouse, child, friend, or coworker who is heading out the door. Read it together over breakfast, or send the words by text to someone who needs encouragement before a difficult shift or presentation. Praying for one another at the start of the day builds a habit of trust that tends to carry into the rest of the hours.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord go before you into this day and walk beside you through every task. May He give you clear thinking, steady hands, and a patient heart, and may your work bring good to the people you serve. Go in peace, knowing you are held.
