This short morning prayer is for caregivers who wake up already tired, already thinking about the people who depend on them. Pray it at the start of the day, before the first call for help comes, or whisper it while the kettle heats. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own names and worries into it.
Short Morning Prayer for a Caregiver
Lord, I wake up and my mind is already moving toward the day. I think about the medications that need to be given on time, the meals that need to be made, the appointments I need to remember and the calls I need to return. Some of the people I care for cannot tell me how they are feeling, and some of them tell me in ways that are hard to hear. Please steady me before any of that begins.
Give me patience for the moments that test it. When someone asks the same question for the fifth time, help me answer gently. When a task takes longer than I planned, keep my voice soft and my hands steady. Remind me that the small acts of care I offer today, the cup of water, the clean sheet, the hand held in the afternoon, are seen by you even when no one else notices.
Lord, I also ask for strength for my own body and heart. Let me eat something real this morning, rest when I can, and not carry guilt for needing breaks. Hold the people I love and the people I look after in your care today. I trust you with what I cannot control. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Father, I start this day in your presence. Give me patience with the person in front of me, wisdom for the next decision, and the energy to finish what needs doing. Let me notice your help in small things today, and let my care for others reflect the care you have shown me. Amen.

Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up.
(WEB)
Good work done for others can feel invisible and slow. Pray this verse for perseverance, asking God to keep you faithful in the ordinary kindness that makes up most of your days.
How to Pray This Prayer
Try praying this prayer while you are still in bed, before your phone or the needs of the household take over. If you can, sit in a chair by a window, hold a warm cup, and let the first few minutes of light be your quiet space. Even ninety seconds spoken honestly to God can change the tone of the whole morning.
If you share the work of care with a spouse, sibling, friend or church member, invite them to pray it with you or to pray it for you. A caregiver who is prayed for by someone else often finds it easier to rest in God’s care. Write the prayer on a card and keep it near the medication box or the kitchen sink as a reminder.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord go before you into this day and walk beside you through every task. May he give strength to your hands, patience to your heart and rest to your soul. May you feel his peace even in the busiest hours, and may you be reminded that you are loved.
