This daily prayer is written for a prayer group that meets regularly to bring its needs before God. Pray it together at the start of your meeting, or let one person read it aloud each morning as the group gathers in spirit. It can be read exactly as written, or you can use its shape as a starting point and add the names and requests that matter most to your own circle.

Daily Prayer for a Prayer Group

Lord, we come to you today as a group that has agreed to pray together, and we ask that you meet us here. Some of us arrive tired from long shifts, some from sleepless nights with a sick child, some from the quiet worry of a job that feels uncertain. You know each of these burdens by name, even the ones we have not yet found words for. Help us to listen to one another as well as to you, and to hold each request with care instead of rushing past it.

Give us a spirit of unity that does not depend on our agreeing about everything. Keep us from gossip, from comparison, and from the temptation to pray only for the people we already understand. Make our prayers honest and specific, and let them grow into trust rather than into anxious lists. Where someone among us is grieving, comfort them through the hands and words of the people beside them. Where someone is rejoicing, let us celebrate with them and thank you without holding back. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Father, we gather again in your presence and bring you what is on our hearts this morning. Steady the nervous, strengthen the weary, and open our ears to the people who speak to us today. Keep our group faithful, humble and kind to one another, and let our prayers reach past this room into the lives of the people we love. Thank you for hearing us. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Matthew 18:20

For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them.”

(WEB)

Jesus promises his presence wherever two or three gather in his name. Read this before you begin, and let it remind the group that the meeting itself is an act of faith, even when the room feels small or the requests seem ordinary.

Philippians 4:6

In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.

(WEB)

Paul invites believers to bring every worry to God with thanksgiving rather than keeping a tally of troubles. Use this verse to shift the group from complaint toward gratitude, naming one thing you are thankful for before listing any need.

Romans 12:15

Rejoice with those who rejoice. Weep with those who weep.

(WEB)

This short command asks us to share both joy and sorrow with one another. Pray it by asking God to help each person in the group notice when a friend needs them to rejoice or to sit quietly in grief.

James 5:16

Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective.

(WEB)

James links confession, prayer and healing within the community of believers. Let this verse encourage honesty in your group, so that people feel safe naming their failures and asking for one another’s prayers without shame.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing.

(WEB)

Paul urges believers to pray without ceasing, which means prayer is more than a single meeting each week. Ask God to turn the group’s prayer into a habit that continues through the week, in kitchens, cars and quiet moments alone.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time that suits your group’s rhythm, such as the first few minutes of a weekly meeting or a fixed morning time when members can pray from their own homes. Sit in a circle or keep a small table in the center with a notebook, so that people can write down requests and return to them later. Having something to hold, whether a candle, an open Bible or a list, helps quieter members feel included.

Invite a different person each day to lead the reading, so that the words become shared rather than belonging to one leader. Afterward, let each person pray briefly for one name from the list, keeping the prayers short so that everyone has a turn. Consider sending the day’s prayer to group members who could not attend, so that the prayer continues wherever they are.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who meets two or three in his name keep this group close to his heart. May he strengthen each person to carry the burdens of others, and may his peace guard every heart and every household represented here. Go in grace, knowing that the God who hears your prayers is already at work in the lives you have named.
