This is a written prayer for the days when your own reserves feel spent and you need God to supply what you lack. You can pray it in the morning before the day gets loud, in the middle of a hard shift, or late at night when sleep will not come. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where they fit better.

Christian Prayer for Finding Strength

Lord, I come to you tired. Some of this weariness is in my body, from long hours and broken sleep, and some of it is in my heart, from carrying worries I have not been able to set down. I do not know how I will get through what is in front of me today. I only know that I cannot do it on my own, and that you have never asked me to.

Give me strength that is bigger than my mood and steadier than my feelings. When I feel like giving up on a conversation, a task, or a relationship, remind me that you are still at work even when I see no progress. Quiet the voice that tells me I have failed again. Help me take the next small step instead of demanding that I see the whole road. Where I am weak, be my strength, and let me rest in that truth without shame.

Father, I place my fears, my unfinished responsibilities, and the people I love into your hands. Hold what I cannot hold. Renew my energy for the work you have given me, and give me patience with myself and with others. I trust you to meet me here, now, with exactly what I need. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am worn out and I need you right now. Give me strength for this next hour, and steady my breathing and my thoughts. Help me do the one thing in front of me, and trust you with the rest. Thank you that you do not grow tired and that you are near. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Pray this verse by naming the places where you feel drained, and asking God to give power to your weakness. Notice that the promise is about giving, not about your own effort producing the strength. Let the words slow your breathing as you say them.

Psalm 46:1

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

(WEB)

Use this verse when you feel the ground shifting under you. Pray it by naming what feels unstable and then confessing God as your refuge there. Ask him to be the place you run to before you try to fix everything yourself.

2 Corinthians 12:9

He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Most gladly therefore I will rather glory in my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on me.

(WEB)

This verse helps when your weakness feels like a failure. Pray it by bringing your specific limits to God and asking him to show his grace in them. Ask that you would stop hiding what is hard and let his power work through it.

Philippians 4:13

I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me.

(WEB)

Pray this verse when a task feels bigger than you can handle. Name the particular challenge, then ask Christ to give you what you need to face it. Read it slowly, letting each phrase remind you of where your strength actually comes from.

Psalm 73:26

My flesh and my heart fails, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.

(WEB)

Use this verse when your body or heart is failing. Pray it by admitting how much you are struggling, then affirming that God himself is your portion. Ask him to be your lasting strength when everything else gives out.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose a time when you can be still for a few minutes, such as before you open your phone in the morning or in the car before walking into work. Keep a glass of water or a cup of tea nearby and hold it while you pray, so your hands have something to do with the weariness. If you are praying for someone else who is struggling, read the prayer aloud in the first person as though you are speaking for them, changing the details to fit their situation.

Consider asking a friend, a spouse, or a small group to pray the prayer with you once a week. Hearing another voice speak these words can ease the sense that you are carrying everything alone. Afterward, sit quietly for a minute and notice whether any one line stays with you, and return to it during the day.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who does not grow weary give strength to the one who feels weary today. May he meet each hour with grace that is enough for it, and may he keep your heart steady when your own resources run low. May you rest in his faithfulness and walk forward in the strength he supplies.
