This short morning prayer is for asking God to help you love the people you will meet today, including the ones who are easy to love and the ones who try your patience. Pray it when you first wake up, while coffee is brewing, or in the car before you walk into work. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words in the gaps.

Short Morning Prayer for Loving Others

Father, thank You for this new morning and for the gift of another day. Before I open my phone or start my list, I want to give You my heart and ask You to shape it. I know I will meet people today who are tired, worried, grieving, or just difficult to be around. Some of them I already care about, and some I will only pass in the hallway or the checkout line. Please let me see each one the way You see them.

Help me to be patient when my kids argue over breakfast, kind when a coworker snaps at me, and generous when a friend needs more of my time than I planned to give. Keep my tongue gentle and my eyes ready to notice who is struggling. When I feel resentful or too busy to care, remind me of how much You have forgiven me. Fill me with Your love so that I am not only giving from my own tired reserves. Lord, let my words and actions today point people toward You. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I need Your love for the people around me today. Help me be patient when I am tired, kind when I am tempted to be curt, and attentive to the person in front of me instead of my own schedule. Let Your love move through my hands, my words, and my time. Thank You for loving me first. Amen.

How to Pray This Prayer

Try praying this prayer before you check messages or turn on the news. Sit at the kitchen table, on the edge of your bed, or in the car with the engine off for a few minutes. If you have a family, you might read it together over breakfast, taking turns to pray one sentence each. Keeping a cup of coffee or a Bible in your hands can help you stay focused when your mind starts wandering to the day’s to-do list.

You can also invite a friend, spouse, or small group to pray this prayer with you, either in person or by sending it as a text message. Ask them to pray it for you on days when you feel short on patience. Returning to this prayer once more before lunch or at the end of a hard meeting can help you keep your heart soft throughout the day.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord fill your heart with patience and kindness today. May He help you see the people you meet as His beloved children, and may His peace go before you into every room you enter.
