This short morning prayer is for a parent who wants to bring their daughter before God at the start of the day, before breakfast is on the table and the school bags are by the door. Pray it while she is still getting ready, or quietly on your own before she wakes. You can read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and add her name, her friends, and the things you can see she is carrying.

Short Morning Prayer for My Daughter

Lord, thank you for this new morning and for the gift of my daughter. Before she opens her eyes, you already know the day ahead of her: the classroom, the locker, the text message that might sting, the test she studied for, the friend she hopes to see. Be with her in all of it. Go ahead of her into every room she walks into today, and be the steady presence she can lean on when her own strength runs low.

Give her a calm heart this morning. Where she feels anxious about what others think of her, remind her that she belongs to you and is known by you. Where she is tempted to compare herself, help her see the person you made her to be. Guard her attitude, her words, and her choices, so that she treats people with kindness even when it costs her something. Let her be quick to listen and slow to speak.

Father, I also ask for myself. Give me patience when the morning gets rushed, gentleness when she is grumpy or quiet, and wisdom to know when to speak and when to simply be near. Help me trust that you are working in her life even on the days I cannot see it. Thank you that she is in your hands today and every day. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, watch over my daughter today. Go before her, stay beside her, and come behind her. Give her courage for what she must face, kindness toward the people she meets, and a heart that rests in you. Help her remember that she is loved and never alone. Thank you for her, and thank you that you hold her future. Amen.

Rejoicing in hope; enduring in troubles; continuing steadfastly in prayer…

(WEB)

Pray that she will hold onto hope, stay patient through whatever waits for her, and keep praying even when the day feels unsettled or unfinished.

How to Pray This Prayer

The best time to pray this is in the few minutes between waking and leaving the house, while the kitchen is still quiet. If you can, sit at the table with a cup of coffee or tea and keep your hands busy with something simple, like folding laundry or packing a lunch, so your prayer can flow without rushing. If she is still asleep, you can stand in her doorway and pray silently.

Consider asking a spouse, a grandparent, or a close friend to pray the same words for her on the same morning. Many families find it meaningful to text her a single line of the prayer or a verse before school, so she knows she has been remembered. Let the prayer shape your own mornings too, and return to it whenever the day gets hard.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her this day. May he make his face shine upon her and give her peace that goes deeper than circumstances. Wherever she goes, may she carry the sense that she is loved, seen, and held by a faithful God who is already at work in her.
