This simple prayer for my daughter is written for parents, grandparents, and anyone who loves a young woman and wants to bring her before God. You can pray it in the morning before the house wakes up, at bedtime when the day is finally quiet, or whenever worry settles in. Read it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and speak your own words where your heart needs to say more.

Simple Prayer for My Daughter

Father, I thank You for my daughter. You knew her before she was born, and You have been with her every day since. I ask You to guard her heart and her mind. Where she feels afraid, be her peace. Where she feels lonely, let her know she is not alone. Give her friends who are kind and honest with her, and keep her away from people and habits that would pull her away from You.

Lord, give her wisdom for the decisions she faces, the big ones and the small ones that nobody else sees. Help her to trust You when the path is unclear, and help me to trust You with her too, even when I cannot see what You are doing. Shape her character so that she grows in patience, honesty, and courage. Let her be known for love. Thank You that she belongs to You, and that You will never let her go. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I bring my daughter to You right now. Watch over her in this hour, whatever she is facing. Calm her fears, give her the words she needs, and remind her that You are near. Keep her safe and keep her close to You. I trust her to Your care, the same way I would want to be held by You. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 121:7-8

7 The LORD will keep you from all evil. He will keep your soul. 8 The LORD will keep your going out and your coming in, from this time forward, and forever more.

(WEB)

Pray this over your daughter when you are worried about where she is going or what might happen to her. It asks God to guard her coming and going, which covers every trip, every decision, and every season ahead.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Use this when your daughter is anxious, or when you are. Paul moves from worry to prayer, and that pattern can become your daughter’s pattern too, as she learns to hand each fear to God.

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

(WEB)

Pray this for wisdom in her choices, that she would lean on God more than on her own certainty. Ask that He would guide her steps, including the ones that look confusing from where she stands.

Isaiah 40:31

But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not faint.

(WEB)

This verse is good for the weary days, when school, work, or relationships have drained her. Pray that she would find her strength renewed by waiting on the Lord rather than running on empty.

Ephesians 3:16-17

16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, that you may be strengthened with power through his Spirit in the inward man; 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; to the end that you, being rooted and grounded in love…

(WEB)

Pray that your daughter would be strengthened inwardly by God’s Spirit and that Christ would make His home in her heart. This asks for something deeper than circumstances, a settled faith that stays rooted in love.

How to Pray This Prayer

Choose one regular time each day, such as the drive to work, the moment before you turn off the lamp, or the quiet after breakfast. Keep a small notebook or a note on your phone where you write her name and the specific concern you are praying about that day. Over weeks, you will see how God has answered, and that record will strengthen your own faith.

If you are a parent, you might pray this with your daughter sitting beside you, or with your hand resting on her shoulder if she is willing. Other people who love her, such as a grandparent, a pastor, or a close friend, can pray the same words for her. Asking them to join you multiplies the prayers surrounding her life.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord bless her and keep her. May He make His face shine upon her and be gracious to her. May she walk in His truth all her days, and may she always know that she is deeply loved by the God who made her.
