This daily prayer for my health is written for the morning, when a new day brings its own worries about the body, the energy you have, and the appointments still ahead. You can pray it aloud exactly as written, or use it as a starting point and put your own concerns in the spaces it leaves open. Either way, it gives you a steady place to bring your health to God before the day gets busy.

Daily Prayer for My Health

Father, I come to you this morning with my body and all the things I am worried about in it. I am tired in ways that sleep does not seem to fix. I think about the pain I carry, the test results I am waiting on, the medicine I keep forgetting to refill, and the doctor’s words that I have not stopped replaying. Some days I try to be strong about it and act as if nothing is wrong. Today I am choosing to be honest with you instead.

Lord, you made this body and you know every part of it. Give me wisdom to take care of it well: to eat in ways that help, to rest when I need to, and to keep the appointments I should keep. Strengthen the parts of me that are weak, steady my mind when fear starts to speak loudest, and give my doctors and caregivers clear judgment. Heal what you choose to heal, and give me grace to trust you in whatever you choose not to change yet. Help me to hold my health loosely in my hands and firmly in yours. Amen.

A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment

Lord, I am feeling weak and anxious right now, and I do not know what the day will bring for my body. Be near me in this moment. Give me the strength I need for the next hour, calm my fear, and remind me that you are with me in every step of my care. Help me take the next right step, whatever it is. Thank you that you see me and that I am not facing this alone. Amen.

Scriptures to Pray Alongside

Psalm 103:2-3

2 Praise the LORD, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits; 3 who forgives all your sins; who heals all your diseases…

(WEB)

David calls on his own soul to remember the good things God has done, and healing is named among them. When you pray this for your health, you are reminding yourself of God’s past faithfulness before you ask for what you need now.

Jeremiah 17:14

Heal me, O the LORD, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved; for you are my praise.

(WEB)

Jeremiah brings his pain directly to the Lord and asks for healing and rescue. Use this verse as a plain request, saying in your own words what hurts and asking God to act where you cannot.

Isaiah 40:29

He gives power to the weak. He increases the strength of him who has no might.

(WEB)

Isaiah speaks of God giving strength to the weary and power to those who feel faint. On days when your energy is low, pray this verse slowly and ask God to supply what your body lacks.

Psalm 147:3

He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds.

(WEB)

This short verse describes God as the one who heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Pray it for the places in your life that are wounded, both in body and in heart, and ask him to tend to them tenderly.

Philippians 4:6-7

6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

(WEB)

Paul tells his readers not to be anxious but to bring every request to God with thanksgiving. Health worries often turn into anxiety, so pray this passage as a way to hand your fears over and ask for a peace that goes beyond understanding.

How to Pray This Prayer

Many people find it easiest to pray this prayer first thing in the morning, before checking messages or reading the news. Sit in a chair you can rest in, with a glass of water nearby, and keep a small notebook beside you if you want to write down any symptoms or questions to raise with your doctor later. If you take medicine, you might pray it while you take your morning dose, so the two become a regular reminder of God’s care.

You can also pray this with someone else. Ask a friend, a spouse, or a member of your church to pray it with you or to pray it for you on the days you feel least able. Some people keep a folded copy in a wallet, on the fridge, or in a phone note so it is always close at hand when a hard day arrives.

A Blessing to Close

May the Lord who made this body keep it under his care today. May he give strength where it is spent, rest where it is weary, and peace where fear has settled in. May you know that your health matters to the one who created you, and may you walk into this day trusting that he goes with you.
