This night prayer for peace and healing is written for the end of the day, when the house is quiet and your mind will not stop replaying what happened, what hurts, and what tomorrow might bring. Pray it at bedtime, in bed or in a chair beside it, and read it aloud exactly as written or use it as a starting point for your own words. Either way, it gives you a way to hand the night over to God.
Night Prayer for Peace and Healing
Lord, the day is ending, and I bring it to you as it is. Thank you for the hours I was given, for the small kindnesses along the way, and for the strength that carried me when I had none of my own. I confess the worry I carried in my chest all afternoon, the tight feeling that I had to hold everything together. I set it down now. Take what I could not fix, and take the weight of the people I love who are struggling in their bodies and their hearts.
Heal what is broken in me tonight, Father, whether it is a sore body, a tired mind, or a grief I have not yet put into words. Where there is pain, let it ease. Where there is fear, let it loosen its grip. Be near to the ones I am praying for, the ones lying awake in hospital rooms and the ones waiting for test results. Give them rest they can actually receive, and give me the grace to trust that you are awake while I sleep. Let your peace settle over this house and over my heart. Amen.
A Shorter Version to Pray in a Moment
Lord, I am tired and my thoughts are loud. Quiet them now. Keep watch over me and over the people I love tonight. Heal what hurts, calm what is anxious, and give me sleep that restores. I trust you with the hours I cannot see. Thank you for being present in the dark. Amen.

3 He will not allow your foot to be moved. He who keeps you will not slumber. 4 Behold, he who keeps Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

Psalm 3:5
I laid myself down and slept. I awakened; for the LORD sustains me.

You will keep whoever’s mind is steadfast in perfect peace, because he trusts in you.

“Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest.

Bring your exhaustion to Jesus in plain words, the way you would tell a friend you have nothing left. Let this invitation shape your prayer for healing, for yourself and for those who are worn down.
How to Pray This Prayer
Pray this prayer at the bedside, just before you turn off the light. Keep a glass of water and a small lamp nearby so you are not reaching for a phone. Sit with your hands open on your lap, or fold them over your chest, and let your breathing slow as you read. If you are sharing a bed or a room, pray the words quietly so you do not wake anyone, or pray them silently and let the rhythm carry you.
You can also ask someone else to pray it over you, or take turns with a partner, roommate, or friend who is awake at the same hour. Pray it for a family member who is sick or anxious and let their name fill the blanks in your own heart. Repeat the prayer on nights when the same worry returns; God is not tired of hearing from you.
A Blessing to Close
May the Lord keep you through this night and wake you to a morning of mercy. May his peace settle deep in your body and mind, and may the healing you long for begin its quiet work in you and in those you love. Rest well, for you are held.
